  • Hiti Mapping and Street Naming in OSM: Lalitpur Metropolitan City

    Under this project, we explored about purpose, necessity , importance, and methodology of mapping hiti(water spouts) on OpenStreetMap. Besides, mapping traditional waterspouts, we also added street names on OSM with the help of street names provided by Lalitpur Metropolitan City and local people.

    Mapillary is the platform that makes street-level images and map data available to scale and automate mapping. Using this technique, we obtained street images and uploaded it on Mapillary. With those imageries we were able to map Point of Interest(POI) data on OSM.

In this project, we have compared the accuracy of two datasets (Global and local) with the help of confusion matrix involving the calculation of user’s accuracy, producer’s accuracy, kappa coefficient and the overall accuracy in general.
