ICIS TTF Early Day assessments: 9 October 2024 by ICIS Editorial. - Planned and unplanned maintenance at Norwegian gas fields and processing plants are estimated at 50.50 million cubic meters (mcm)/day on 9 October and expected to dip to 28.60mcm/day by 16 October – Gassco. - Temperatures in northwest Europe for the week starting 14 October are expected warmer than normal with wind power mostly average, except for the UK which should be well above seasonal averages – MetDesk. - The Gail Bhuwan, which had been circling in the Atlantic west of the UK, has now started heading east towards the Gate terminal in the Netherlands. It may have been circling while waiting for its delivery slot - ICIS shipping data. - The sanctioned 174,000cbm North Air, North Way and North Sky are currently loitering in the Arctic, ship tracking data from ICIS LNG Edge shows. The three newbuild ice-class vessels were sanctioned by the US and are waiting near Kolguyev Island. They all appear to be ballast with no clear use at present. All three vessels were included in US sanctions on 23 August. - LNG storage at major power utilities in Japan rebounded slightly to 2.02 million tonnes in the week ended 6 October from 1.99 million tonnes for the week ended on 29 September in the latest update on 9 October. - The ICIS East Asia Index (EAX) premium to the ICIS TTF Early Day for prompt November month is at $0.376/MMBtu. #lngindustry #lng #lngshipping #gas #shippinindustry

Strengthening Innovation and Collaboration with Uniper The DigiDECOM Community continues to foster powerful collaborations that drive technological advancement in the nuclear sector. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from Frank Willmann and Mikael Gustafsson of Uniper, which holds a unique position as both a utility company and a global leader in energy solutions. During the visit, my colleagues Omar Ibn El Khatab Zahra and Abdenour BENKRID, Ph.D demonstrated the capabilities of the #HADRON Laboratory at the Institute for Energy Technology, showcasing how our advanced #AI, #robotics, #data analytics, and #DigitalTwin technologies are transforming nuclear energy. Additionally, my colleague Bálint Batki presented our latest innovations in LLM-based AI support, further broadening the scope of AI-driven solutions we offer. While we both agree that, as with any disruptive technology, a careful evaluation is needed regarding where, when, and how to introduce radically new approaches, our discussions with the Uniper team highlighted the significant potential of these technologies to improve the efficiency and safety of nuclear energy production. This visit marks an important first step toward a stronger research-application collaboration, with the goal of fostering the practical implementation of these innovations within the nuclear sector. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the industry. 📍 Sweden has submitted its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP)! In our most recent assessment of the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs), we take a closer look how Sweden in developing a CCS strategy in its national strategy! 1️⃣ CO2 capture: Although the Plan does not include a specific target on CO2 capture, it does provide an assumption of capturing 1.5 Mt of CO2 by 2030. 2️⃣ CO2 transport: The Plan only mentions CO2 transport via ship transportation, without any direct mention of infrastructure support. 3️⃣ CO2 storage: Storage is not specifically mentioned, but Sweden is looking to cooperate with Norway to assess the potential of storage sites. 4️⃣ Financial resources: Funding is directly available for CO2 removal technologies. For point source CCS, financial resources are allocated from a single funding programme. Overall, Sweden is moving towards a national CCS strategy. On top of that, the Swedish CCS community is being supported by the Industrial Leap Programme which is currently deploying €130 million per year until 2031. In the 20 years since Equinor 's initial development of Kvitebjorn, using cesium formate brine to drill and complete its deep HP/HT gas wells, the field has produced over 100 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas - far more than the original recoverable reserves estimate figure of 57 bcm. The UK's Centrica Energy signed 10 year contracts with Statoil/Equinor in 2002 and 2014 to take 5 bcm/year and I guess Kvitebjorn has delivered on schedule. 5 bcm/year represents around 7% of the UK's gas consumption
