On May 28th, 2024, I had the pleasure of participating in a panel discussion at Næringslivets Hus in Oslo, hosted by Norsk Industri and Offshore Norge. The focus was on the transformative role of 3D printing in the oil and gas industry, particularly in on-demand manufacturing and future supply chains. During the session, we explored how digital platforms combined with 3D printing can drive local value creation, enhance sustainability by reducing inventory, and produce on-demand closer to delivery locations, the latter being very important due to increasing risks towards disrupted supply chains. We also discussed the necessary incentives and the barriers that must be overcome to build robust, scalable networks for these services. I shared insights on our upcoming 3D Centre of Excellence in Stord, set to launch on October 1st, in partnership with Additech, part of the Aker group. This center will support the Hugin and Valhall projects by providing 3D printed parts. The brownfield market also presents exciting opportunities for additive manufacturing (AM), and Aker Solutions Life cycle services will initiate pilot projects within additive manufacturing (AM) in close collaboration with key customers developing ecosystems and enhancing our service delivery. The debates were enriched by perspectives on the strategic use of AM by industry leaders like Equinor, Vår Energi, and AkerBP, discussing their approaches to adopting AM for both green field and brown field. This event was a great opportunity to discuss the potential of digital transformation in our industry with fellow leaders from Aibel, Apply, and other key players. METEC is the premier testing facility for methane monitoring technology. Every year they run 3-month long blind tests of the latest and greatest continuous monitors. SLB’s Methane Point Instrument was launched late last year and tested for the first time this year. Exciting news! ✨ Wärtsilä and WISE are part of a consortium exploring the hydrogen-argon power cycle. We’re thrilled to announce that Wärtsilä has joined the Integrated Hydrogen-Argon Power Cycle (iHAPC) consortium led by the University of Vaasa. The research will focus on the use of argon – a non-toxic ideal gas present in the atmosphere – to increase efficiency of balancing engines, using a closed loop combustion cycle. This research will happen under the WISE – Wide and Intelligent Sustainable Energy umbrella that is lead by Wärtsilä and funded by Business Finland.  💬Rasmus Teir, Director of Sustainability & Future Plant Concepts at Wärtsilä Energy, says: “We have the technologies needed to deliver a 100% renewable energy future. Topsoe just published the test results of a trial run of their Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells, with electricity consumption of 36 kWh/kg-H2, at the core. Today marks an important milestone—4 years at AFRY! It’s been an incredible journey filled with learning, challenges, and accomplishments, and I couldn’t be more proud of what I’ve achieved so far. 📈 My Focus Areas From day one, I was dedicated to advancing our work in the LNG sector. I focused on: 1: Technical Design and Operations: Bringing my expertise in technical design and operations to ensure that our LNG projects not only meet but exceed industry standards, working on both onshore and Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRU). 2: Commercial Acumen: Leveraging my skills in proposal cost estimation, I've successfully developed proposals that are both competitive and comprehensive, building lasting trust and relationships with our clients. This has been one of the most critical and key skills to develop. 3: Team Building: Assembling a talented team that aligns with our vision of innovation and excellence in the energy sector. 🏆 Key Achievements These years have been packed with significant milestones, including: 1: Expanding AFRY's LNG Capabilities: I've been part of major LNG projects that have helped solidify AFRY's position as a leader in the sector. 2: Leadership Development: My journey has been as much about personal growth as professional. A week ago, I participated in a panel discussion at Dagens Industri conference about the electricity market of the future. The panel discussion was about how the electrification of the society is to be financed. As we all know, the electrification is crucial for the decarbonisation. That is why its so important to find financing solutions now! The design of the Nordic electricity market as a whole, including both grids and new supply, and the financing solutions must be competitive in a global context. There must be long term predictability to attract capital from lenders and investors at competitive cost level. I had a very interesting discussion on these topics with Åsa Pettersson, Johan Lindehag, Jessica Krook ♦️ and mårten einarsson
