On Wednesday 4 December, NTNU Energy Transition Initiative (NETI) will hold a seminar on hydrogen export from Norway. Norwegian exports are dominated today by fossil fuels, which is risky considering the likelihood of decreased demand in a future, decarbonised European energy system. This seminar will highlight the potential of future hydrogen exports as a decarbonisation option for Europe, and discuss implications of developments in the European energy system on Norwegian exports. The seminar will feature presentations by Julian Straus (SINTEF Energy Research) and Alessandro Campari (Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering). This week, Trygve Skjold (Scientific Director) and Geir Ersland (supervisor) from HySchool were invited to Rio de Janeiro for the #NovemberConference on Green Transition, organized by Innovation Norway, Universitetet i Oslo, and the Norwegian Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro. The conference brings together 150-200 researchers, businesses, and government representatives from Norway and Brazil to explore the challenges and opportunities in energy transition, with a special focus on research funding from Brazil, Norway, and the EU. Here, participants have the opportunity to collaborate, develop joint projects and exchange ideas. Looking forward to the exciting discussions and potential collaborations to come. In mid-September, Vigdis Olden (senior research scientist at SINTEF Industry, and lead of HYDROGENi's material integrity package) joined a group of scientists from SINTEF and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) on a trip to Japan, to visit Kyushu University. Both SINTEF and NTNU are partners in HYDROGENi, and Professor Hisao Matsunaga at KU sits on HYDROGENi’s scientific committee. 📣 Exciting news in the journey toward sustainable metal production! #GreenIron has officially partnered with #Norwegian #Hydrogen to secure green hydrogen as a reducing agent for its fossil-free metal production plant in Sandviken, #Sweden. Hydrogen deliveries, sourced from Norwegian Hydrogen’s first production plant in Norway, will begin shortly, marking a significant milestone in #GreenIron's path toward sustainable manufacturing. Norwegian Hydrogen indicated that the ramp-up in 2025 will require scaling hydrogen production to meet GreenIron's growing needs. With the launch this full-scale facility in Sandviken Industrial Park this year, more and more companies are committing to a greener future through innovative partnerships!
