We are very happy and proud of the milestone, and not least the trust shown in our deliveries, both from Equinor and other important players in the industry and business sector. This framework contract provides us with a foundation to continue development and create some of the most exciting workplaces in the region. This certainly gives us new motivation to continue developing in the trend we have had so far! We look forward to the continuation and the good collaborations! :D
Equinor CEO Anders Opedal pushed the button for first commercial print from AM North AS to Equinor in August last year. This was not a magic touch (sorry, Anders) – but the start of magnificent 3D print deliveries from Hammerfest to our offshore and onshore operations in Norway. The strong entrepreneurial mindset is recognized by Innovation Norway, and in September (only 13 months after the “magic” button touch) AM North received an award from Innovation Norway. “With a remarkable combination of innovation, team spirit and sustainability, they have not only created a successful company, but have also left their mark in a region where there is need for new establishments and jobs”, says the jury's reasoning. During the “award winning period”, AM North has delivered in the range of 1400 3D printed parts to Equinor. The “price” from Equinor is now a brand-new Frame Agreement – making AM North a supplier across our business, available at the new Fieldnode platform. This is yet another milestone in the increasingly growing additive manufacturing (3D printing) eco system. This is one way we benefit from this eco system: “During an inspection a broken part at a facility is discovered. The damage gets reported, and a new part is ordered. The wait could be up to a year, depending on the broken part. The costs could be several million USD and include transportation across the world before the new part finds its way to its new home in the construction. Now we can easily print many broken parts when we need them” Brede Lærum, Head of Equinor AM Centre of Excellence The eco system is growing at full pace and we expected to achieve 2 x major milestone before Christmas. Stay tuned! This is #innovation, #transformation and #digital together. Credits to Helle Østvik, iFinnmark and Thomas Fredrik Kristensen, Kronstadposten for fotos.
