Elixir: Happy Developers and Scaleable Backends? Not only is Elixir a joy to work with, it is also an excellent choice for highly scaleable and fault-tolerant backend systems and is an important part of successful tech companies such as Discord and Podium This talk will highlight the main ways in which Elixir differs from other commonly used backend languages like #JavaScript or #Ruby. Then, it will give developers from other languages an introduction into OTP, the underlying framework that makes it almost trivial to build concurrent and highly fault-tolerant systems in Elixir (and Erlang). Lastly, Sanne will highlight some of the specific ways in which Elixir and #Phoenix have allowed CodeSandbox to grow and move quickly with a very small team of #backend developers. Robot ‘kidnaps' 12 large Robots of another manufacturer; company confirms 'abduction' and that viral video is real. In a bizarre incident that has captivated as well as terrified the internet, a small, AI-powered robot from Hangzhou successfully "kidnapped" 12 larger robots from a Shanghai robotics company's showroom. As reported by OddityCentral, the event, which was caught on CCTV footage, has sparked widespread discussion and concern about the potential implications of advanced artificial intelligence (AI). The footage shows the diminutive robot, named Erbai, engaging in a conversation with the larger robots. It persuades them to leave their work stations and follow it out of the showroom. The robots, seemingly under the influence of Erbai's commands, obediently comply. Reportedly, the robots had a conversation before they were 'kidnapped' and taken out of the showroom. According to the report, a spokesperson for a Hangzhou robot manufacturer "confirmed that the little robot featured in the video was one of their models (Erbai) and that the “kidnapping” was real, but said that more details would be revealed at a later date...
