Do you want a sneak peak into how a director of product at Delivery Hero and Adyen conducts #interview for a #productmanger? I found one of their articles about this and here you go... 🔽 I was looking for different ways companies conduct interviews for their PM candidates; to #improve myself and to improve the way I interview other product managers for our company, and I came across an article summarized in the PDF below. The original article named "60 Minutes: Interviewing Product Managers" is written by Shriram Ganesh, the current SVP Product at Adyen and the former Director of Product and Design at Delivery Hero and Product Owner at Qualcomm Innovation Center, Inc. His background is impressive 💪. He uses simple yet effective questions and interview structure to check the competence of the #candidate. His approach is different from other product leaders I know, and that's why I wanted to share it with you. 🔝The #PDF is my take from his article, and I also added my opinion to it, especially to improve the "Wrap Up" section. I think it would be a good idea if every product leader shares his way of conducting PM interviews to improve the product community, for PMs and for other leaders. ❓So, how do you conduct product interviews? Which product interview stood up for you as a product manager? Share them in the comments.

🔎One of my most favorite GenAI Products at Booking.com is - surprise - not a chatbot!🔎 A couple months ago we launched 🦸 Smart Filters 🦸 - basically a search box that enables our users to express what they’re looking for in natural language. For instance, if you’re traveling to Amsterdam for a weekend getaway and want “hotels with a great gym and canal views from the room,” you can just type that, and the feature then scans Booking.com’s inventory and applies the most relevant filters. 🩵 Our users absolutely love it and the feedback has been great! 🩵 🤺This challenges a common misconception about #GenAI for end user products: that it’s only useful for chatbots. Instead of focusing on conversation, Smart Filters demonstrate a simple but powerful use of generative AI - understanding the intent of interaction – in this case, what’s being said in a blurb of text, and why it’s being said - and then translating it to structured, queriable requests. 🤺 💡#LLMs can do lots of cool things – chatbots are just a special case application. When thinking about the utility of LLMs, the industry at large needs to break out of the bot paradigm and explore more use cases of detection, generation, summarisation, rapid prototyping… 💡 Check out the video to see it in action. How might this reshape how you plan your next #trip? Don't see this on the app? Smart Filters is currently live in the US, UK, NZ, Aus, and Singapore - more soon!

Product Time to Money 💰 concept vs Time to Market ⏰ resonantes with the reality that any product leader needs to embrace. I would add Time to Value as a key concept for success . As product leaders, let's put more focus on making the right "It" and accelerate Time to Money, as a result.

Big news for bol sellers! Channable is the launching partner of bol's new Advertising API!🎉 Here's what you can do with it: ✅ Create (advanced) campaign setups in bulk ✅ Keyword targeting & harvesting ✅ Product targeting & harvesting ✅ Manage bids and budgets at scale ✅ Track automated changes ✅ Get product Insights ✅ Segment products based on performance (Yes - Performance labels for Marketplaces! 👀 ) This comes as an addition to our existing Bol offerings (listing creation & optimization, data enrichment, inventory management, fulfillment & order management, repricer) which are already used by thousands of customers. The first 50 customers get beta-access next week. Just send me a message if you want to test it! I promise, it will save you a lot of time if you advertise 20+ products and works standalone, so no worries if you’re using another or no tool for your listings. 😉 Big thanks to Marinus Snyman, Martin Finkenflügel, Linda van Laar (and in the past Quint van Gils & John Lin (林镇宇)) from Bol! It feels like working with colleagues. And about my knee.. The picture with Jaume and Ties Jan (the ones who built this with their team) is from last year. Luckily my knee (torn ACL) has healed, and the Channable football team won the championship without me! ⚽️🏆

Today HolyWater turns 4 years old! 🎉 The story behind the jar (pic in comments) and company name will come later; first, a quick 'previously in HolyWater '😎 4-year startup hero journey: ✝ Experimentation. Tested a lot of MVPs (launched 10+ mobile apps) ✝Growth. From 0$ to $1M/month in 9 months. 3 apps, including interactive stories, became top 1 by downloads in their niches ✝Crisis. Went through a crisis and learned the hard way that profitability must be our core focus. (Survive to evolve. Evolve to survive) ✝Pivot and exit. Sold the non-content apps to shift our focus to building a content ecosystem ✝Defining the Vision. Made strides in building synergy between AI’s efficiency and authors’ creativity. Our book platform, Passion, is growing 2x quarterly (top 1 in 10+ countries) ✝Expansion. Launched audiobook feature and video series platform to adapt our best IPs into new formats ✝Opened offices in Portugal and Poland We are still young and learning (and always will be) 🤓 Increasing retention, organic traffic, and cracking paid social are at the top of our list. We will also work on public communication to expand our network and create partnerships and synergies with great people and companies. Exciting news will be announced very soon🤞 I started HolyWater to empower great Ukrainians to unlock their full potential through a culture of growth, result-orientation, curiosity, persistence, and self-awareness. My team inspires me daily by turning this mission into reality and empowering me to unlock my potential. Now HolyWater is extending this mission to hundreds of writers around the 🌏 Now the Jar story 💡 In 2020 (a noname project back then) we launched an app that struggled to achieve positive ROI (still struggling sometimes🤣). Our marketer brought a jar of holy 💦 from her local church (picture attached). After blessing our ad accounts with it, we achieved a positive ROI within a week (100% causality 🍀 ). This is how we became HolyWater 💦 I'd like to thank: -HW team. I'm inspired and humbled to be part of this journey with you which wouldn't have been possible without you -My Co-founder Anatolii Kasianov for always being there for HW and me -Vitaliy Reshetnyk Vladislav Danilochkin Yevhenii Hnatiuk Kristina Tsapko Valeriia Kropyva Vitalii Shevchuk Ziong Le Julia Smirnova Maja Skvorc Maria Kuiejor for constant growth and high standards -Vital Laptenok Alex Fedorov Anton Pavlovsky Andrew Skrypnyk Misha Galian 🇺🇦 Galyna I. As one chapter closes, another begins. After more than a decade deeply immersed in the world of startups and scale-ups, I am embarking on an exciting new journey. My focus now lies in empowering B2B SaaS companies through tailored Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies. Are you considering a transition from PLG to SLG, or perhaps the other way around? Are you looking to integrate PLS into your existing PLG motion? Have you recently revamped your pricing strategy and are eager to explore new markets? Or perhaps you've just secured investment and are struggling to align your marketing strategy with your business objectives for optimal success? Maybe you find yourself in that crucial stage of transitioning from startup to scale-up and are seeking guidance on your next growth moves? This summer, I will be offering my expertise through advisory or fractional leadership roles. If you're driven to propel your company toward the next stage of growth, let's connect over a virtual coffee. Yesterday Marthy Cagan gave a talk at ProductTank Amsterdam meet up (kudos to Adyen for hosting). I could not miss a chance to listen to the living classic of product management craft. Marthy came to present his new book "TRANSFORMED: Moving to the Product Operating Model". This book is about bridging the gap between where most companies are right now and where they need to be (this would be using product operating model according to Marthy). I made some notes during his speech, but before I share them with you I invite you to guess (or figure out): According to Marthy Cagan, what is the main reason that European product companies are often lagging behind their US counterparts? (answer in comments) (1) Too conservative, not taking enough risk (2) Addicted to processes (3) Obsessed with consensus, leaders are not empowered (4) Too much regulations in the EU (5) Work-life balance undermining productivity

Nowadays, AI is all around the place. Every company is talking about it, and those two letters are changing the way we do things and understand our world. Well, I don't know about you, but I always wonder what they are doing with AI! We don't have all the answers, but I do have the answer to what Adyen is doing with AI. We have made significant investments in machine learning and artificial intelligence over the past few years, and we continue to build best-in-class data products that power every transaction we process for our merchants. In a recent blog post, Andreu Mora, our SVP of Engineering for our Data Solution, broke down our ML and AI use cases and gave us a glimpse into what is to come for our Data products and the decisions that underpin our direction.

When i was reading the “PM Burnout Report” i indeed payed the most attention to the part Petra is talking about So today, If you’re a Head of Product or a Product Lead, take a moment to reflect: • Are your Product Managers clear on their roles? • Do they have a well-defined scope of work? • Are their efforts recognized and appreciated? • Do they have a clear growth plan with set goals? If you have got at least one “no”, you might need to do a better job Burnout can stem from various factors, but as a leader, it’s your responsibility to prioritize your team’s well-being. When you take care of your team, they can take care of the product.

All Product Mgt coaching (PMC) is valuable if there is a tangible RoI. The problem is ensuring the cost meets the value. Coaches ask for a fee based on their own experience, not the level of student and career level (mostly), for obv reasons. This makes it difficult for those in the earlier stages of Product Management to be able to afford good PMC, which are the ones who need it the most but are unlikely to get the most RoI due to the high cost. I’ve found this is similar for all coaching. This is where Evie’s group coaching offers significant value as it allows entry level and ‘younger PMs’ access to advanced experience and advice without the hefty price tag that comes with one on one coaching. #Coaching #PM #learning #product

With that, make some chains (equal in number to the number of people participating) - see picture (𝐛) Ask all participants to take a pen and a chain - the sticky notes are turned on their backs (𝐜) Then take about 15 minutes (depending on the size of the group). Everyone writes down a nice, appreciative message on one of the other people’s sticky notes and fold it over.. the next person writes another message on the next sticky note, etc. (𝐝) At the end, everyone can take their own collection of personal appreciation that shows “you are valued for who you are!” True to the motto “Just do it - it could turn out well.” (in German "einfach mal machen, könnte ja gut werden😁), I would like to encourage you to try this exercise at one of your next team events (especially effective for groups of at least 15-20 people)! It would be great if you share your experiences on it 😊 #productmanagement #productoperations #appreciation

Every parent knows it: there's nothing that captivates your children quite like another kid's toys 🎁 Marktplaats launched its new holiday campaign to inspire parents and grandparents to gift second-hand toys instead of new ones. The campaign shows the irresistible attraction of another child’s toys, capturing the fun of choosing pre-loved gifts. As Marktplaats CMO Valerie Heeremans-Niedersüß says, “With this campaign, we want to show that second-hand toys are therefore a very logical choice for the holidays. This way, we can reduce the environmental impact of the holidays together, without compromising on fun. It's nice to think that what is superfluous for one person can be a fantastic gift for another." Are you giving any second-hand gifts this year? 🧸🎮 #Marktplaats #ToysCampaign #CircularEconomy #PreLoved

How many of us have joined a new company and proposed a promising solution to a problem only to have it rejected with “we tried that n years ago and it didn’t work”? Or conversely, had a new executive join your company and repeat “here’s how we did things at my last company” ad nauseum? These are telltale signs of a surface level understanding. In my latest blog post, I share some personal experiences highlighting the importance of understanding from first principles - whether it's physics or product management. #productmanagement #pm #leadership #fractional #fcpo #firstprinciples
