This interview of Mr. C. Sivasankaran, one of India's finest thinkers and ace businessmen, by Mr. Raj Shamani, one of my favourite YouTubers, is a great learning resource for all of us. I am thankful to both of them for great interview. I was one of the beneficiaries/ user of Mr. Sivasankaran's Aircel telecom service provider's service. Aircel's very small denomination recharge voucher of Rs.14 for 3 days unlimited internet was poor man's cow to me as we didn't have today's cost effective mobile combo plans at that time. I used to recharge with Rs.14 voucher for unlimited internet, most importantly for downloading big softwares from official websites of Microsoft, Oracle, etc. But unfortunately, Mr. Sankaran's one mistake put my old man's cow to an end. He has discussed that issue here. Apart from that, there are many lessons we can learn from this interview. I am sure that Mr. Sivasankaran's new venture of bio hacking or wellness will make a road to his comeback. All the best to him. Ace thinkers never stop their journeys and they continue to benefit large masses. And this is happening with Mr. C. Sivasankaran too.

"The hidden truth about your IT services: Are You Building/delivering what customers really need?" This weekend happened very good to me. I met a few good people, built new contacts and network. The best thing happened is a podcast I just completed : https://lnkd.in/dhFaZJtQ I really loved it but the most amazing term I came across was "stated vs revealed preferences" and that I could connect with a few deals I have been dealing with at my job. The real life example of stated vs revealed preferences is like a friend of mine says he want to eat healthy and go to the gym (stated preference). However, when you look at his actual behavior, he always choose pizza over salad and haven’t gone to the gym in months (revealed preference). This is how the prospects has behaved in last few months or may be I can say since I have started dealing with them. Now I can differentiate between what they say and what they want. “India: Digitization of Land Records Among Key Reforms of New Administration”: Digitization in no way means the land records or land transfers will be secure!   Goal: Digitization should ensure fraud-less land ownership and land transfers: through a process and technology where; 1) Neither the land nor the ownership credentials can be stolen, faked, fraudulently transacted or changed for ownership without approval from the original owner/s. 2) Landowners can securely login with Password-less/OTP-less Login in their accounts to change their personal data in the system.   Digitalization doesn’t equate to Security: Digitalization does not mean that the land records and associated documents are tamper-proof, secured and cannot be faked or duplicated.  Every day media reports about fraudulent land transfers. Fake identity documents like Aadhaar, driving license, passport, etc., are used by fraudsters. Solution: ·      A verifiable credential is a simple and secure way to verify any kind of document, its source, its integrity, and who owns it, without reaching back to the central repository. ·      State Government #BHULEKH or central government #ULPIN” can issue Verifiable Digital Land Credential to be held by the landowner. These digital credentials, once created are tamper-proof, immutable, fraud-free, secured, privacy-preserving, interoperable and transactional. ·      Land credentials will be stored in the smartphone or in smartcard ·      The Land credentials can be verified instantly by the various verifiers like Aadhaar/UIDAI, Court, financial institutions like banks, property brokers, etc., in knowing 1) who issued the credential, 2) to whom it has been issued, 3) that it has not been tampered in any way and 4) not yet revoked.   The solution is non-Invasive on ULPIN or State Agency’s existing systems: 1)    A trusted digital ecosystem (TDE), part of #Web3 on DIDComm secure VPN like channel with cryptographic encryptions is created for instant verification between the issuer, holder and verifier. 2)    The data is entirely held by State agency and/or ULPIN and no data leaves the premises of ULPIN or the country. 3)    Technology is Open Source (not proprietary), therefore the ownership is with State agency and/or ULPIN. 4)    No integrations or change to existing systems. It’s low-cost solution as it works on APIs. Simplicity of #Indian technology makes it extremely tamper proof, integrated and scaled, a great large democracy process is executed with ease and predictability. Reducing complexity in the solution stack is key to improve #resilience and improve #maintainability. Unfortunately in my job, I see everyone starting with a statement that this is complicated or extremely complex. Key to building successful solution, is to uncomplicate things and bring in #modularity (to do one job really well) and #composability (to be a good team player in a larger ecosystem). Like in an orchestra if you are a good team player, the conductor can create a great symphony.

Over the last few years my advisory, family business work, coaching and mentoring took me closer to #MSMEs. A few things, other than finance, I realised are a challenge for MSMEs include. i. Absence of a "CEO" and strategy: most of the time entrepreneurs with functional expertise have come to lead their firms. They are still leading with a functional mindset often surrounded by those who allow them to get convinced that they know the best in every area. Delegation is also a problem (see #2 too). 2. Failure to build second rung leadership and succession for those. They rarely invest in people in general and particularly in the second rung that can free up time to think. It is assumed that they cannot afford the cost. Investing in people will lead to greater bargaining and inability to retain. And without the succession layer it is risky. It is interesting to see that they also keep complaining about the quality of people. 3. Most are family owned and often struggle with having to allocate executive and operational roles to family members who are unwilling, incompetent/misfit, or both. 4. When Nitin Gadkari said few years back he will do away with the away with physical toll barriers, it wasn't a vision in a very far fetched future. And see few days back we have the EOIs floated for GNSS based tolling. This is what makes him one of the best ministers in our country. In an official statement issued, NHAI said - "Initially it will use a hybrid model where both FASTag-based and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) will operate simultaneously. Dedicated GNSS lanes will be available at toll plazas, allowing vehicle using GNSS-based tolling to pass through freely. As GNSS-based tolling becomes more widespread, all lanes will eventually be converted to GNSS lanes." As of March 2024, more than 98% of user fee payments are made through FASTTag and amount collected is around Rs. 54,750 crores. Narendra Modi is so fond of technology. Then, why doesn't he get the files in the PMO digitized? Why doesn't the PMO receive only digital files from Ministries? This will cut down the delays in decision making as I witnessed in the Coal Ministry. It can be done. It should be done in the interest of improving governance but charity has to begin at home.
