#IBC2024 - you did not disappoint! From smoke machines to robots of every description, AI editing tools, streaming platforms and content delivery networks, the bold and the beautiful of the broadcast industry turned out in force to see and be seen at the stunning RAI Amsterdam. My top takeaway was how 4G and 5G networks are playing a huge role in the next generation of content delivery. Bridging two of my favourite sectors nicely. Two key strategic management decisions concern the timing⏲ and pricing💳 of a movie in streaming offerings. A new study on this topic with Nicolas Weber and Prof. Dr. Reinhard Kunz has been just published in #IJRM (open access): https://lnkd.in/eGpdK36a   Analyzing weekly data of 1397 feature films and more than 50,000 observations, we conclude that too short and too long delays of streaming releases after theatrical releases are suboptimal. We also find interactions between timing and pricing, so that, for example, prices with short delays have a less negative effect on demand than with long delays.
