Here a traffic management rApp-xApp tandem is presented during an emergency in a vehicular scenario consisting of the following five phases: 1️⃣ Large city center (Dallas), Vehicular and pedestrian UEs with Voice or eMBB connections 2️⃣ An emergency event detected at a hotel – can be: a hazardous materials, biohazard alert, terrorist alert 3️⃣ Public service intervenes – FirstNet UEs (First responders) activate (report, organize traffic blocking) and special service (e.g., CDC or SWAT unit) starts driving towards the hotel – new high priority & high volume traffic 4️⃣ Special service unit arrives at the hotel; FR blocked traffic in the surrounding area 5️⃣ One of FR turns out to be a malicious user launching a DoS cyberattack (overload of network) Particular attention has been put on the adaptability of the traffic steering to the dynamically changing situation to make sure that in all cases the network is accessible and fulfills the QoS for critical services. This was achieved by the Traffic Management rApp sending the corresponding policies through the A1 interface. The HbbTV Association has appointed the Service List Registry to run the registry platform enabling HbbTV Application Discovery over Broadband. #hbbtv #simpleserviceselection The multi-year agreement follows a competitive tender process for a supplier to establish, provide, and operate the root domain service to enable online discovery of HbbTV applications. It will enable unique identifiers carried in media streams reaching TV sets to be resolved to an online address that is used to access and load an HbbTV application. HbbTV or Hybrid broadcast broadband TV is an open specification that provides a television application execution environment based on web standards and enables advanced TV services. It is supported by televisions in nearly a hundred million households across Europe.   A key benefit of HbbTV Application Discovery over Broadband is that it enables compatible televisions connected to the internet to access and launch applications, even in the absence of broadcast service information. This includes HbbTV televisions that display services from an external device through an HDMI input. An industry-wide standards-compliant approach is essential to ensure broadband applications for critical communications users are mission-critical quality. This is a key takeaway from a new white paper from TCCA, based on the results of a sector-wide survey, which also highlights the importance of testing and certification of applications designed to support mission-critical operations. “The deployment and use of mission-critical broadband applications will greatly increase the effectiveness of first responders and the efficiency of mobile worker,” said Tim Clark, TCCA Board member and leader of the task force that created the survey and the white paper. “The findings from our market survey provide valuable insights into the requirements of Public Safety, and other critical communications users, regarding their current requirements and future expectations.” A huge thank you to the task force members - all volunteers - who designed the survey and compiled the results to produce the white paper.
