Even the most inclusive events can leave some people behind. 🎤 I’ve been a huge fan of the Eurovision Song Contest since I was five. Although I couldn’t follow it closely this year, news about the disqualification of the Dutch representative, Joost Klein, caught my attention and underscored just how crucial it is to have proper #inclusionplans for vulnerable groups. Joost was disqualified after an incident involving a camera operator who filmed him without his consent. The investigation concluded without any charges, but the impact on Joost and his Eurovision journey was profound. His reaction, seen as an outburst, was likely a response to the stress of constant exposure in a high-pressure environment. For someone with #mentalhealth challenges, this scrutiny can be overwhelming, especially when personal boundaries aren't respected. Despite Joost’s openness about his mental health struggles, there appeared to be no specific support in place to ensure an inclusive environment for participants like him. This incident calls attention to how crucial it is for even the most progressive events to consider tailored inclusion measures. Here are five key strategies for fostering inclusive workplaces for neurodiverse individuals and those facing mental health challenges: 1. Establish Clear Consent and Boundaries 🤝 Implement policies that prioritize consent, allowing employees to set boundaries regarding personal space and communication styles. 2. Provide Mental Health Resources and Support 🧠 Ensure that employees have access to mental health resources, including counseling services and support groups, to promote well-being. 3. Train Staff on Neurodiversity Awareness 📚 Conduct training for all employees about neurodiversity and mental health issues to foster understanding and acceptance. 4. Implement Flexible Work Arrangements ⏰ Offer flexible work options, such as remote work and adjustable hours, to accommodate diverse needs and strengths. 5. Media Buying + Beers + Amsterdam + New Friends = Fun times! 🍻 Last week, I had a chance to meet some of the smartest digital marketers in Europe & beyond. I attended a Foxwell Founders event in Amsterdam, where +50 members of the community gathered to discuss all things media buying, brand building and more. We also had some amazing food, beers and wine, and explored a few of the city's pubs. 😂 If you're not familiar with Foxwell Founders, it's a community of founders and marketing pros mainly focused on all things media buying, founded by Andrew Foxwell & Gracie Foxwell. I've been a part of it for almost a year and it's by far the most valuable community I'm part of. The value their courses provide is insane. Not only that, you can also access the best minds in media buying, creative, brand building and more in the community's Slack channel. Everyone is super helpful and friendly, and I've learnt A LOT from the discussions in the group. Meeting other members face-to-face was super inspiring. I had a great conversation with Klaus Scheile about the impact of learning and skills development at T Systems. What does chewing gum and 'sustainability' have in common? Not much! But it was great to join the B Corp community in the Social Impact Factory - the old chewing gum factory in Amsterdam last week (now a B Corp and on a mission to make social enterprises the new norm :) to hear more on the: - CSDDD (Corporate Due Diligence Directive), CSRD (Coporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) & Green Claims Directive 🤯 Whilst the word 'corporate' may make you think that these do not apply to other smaller businesses these directives will ultimately affect everyone. I sat through 6 hours so you don't have to 😅 My notes... P.S - This is just a broad overview for those who have no prior knowledge of these directives :) If there is one word you should take away and remember it's TRANSPARENCY. #sustainable #directives #BCorp

Home | social first agency has been a B Corp-certified company for over a year now. Last week, we welcomed The Social Hub to the community, as they also received their B Corp certification. The Social Hub hosted a celebration event at their hub in Delft, where I was invited to join their panel discussion alongside Tim de Broekert (Tony's Chocolonely) and Amber Westerborg (The Social Hub). During the panel, I covered several topics, including: Why we became B-Corp Home is an independent agency that has grown significantly over the last five years. With further growth ambitions, we recognized the need to document our vision, policies, and ways of working. In this process, we used the B Corp assessment to challenge ourselves to consider topics we hadn’t fully addressed. For us, the process was about formalizing our approach and setting a standard. Now that we’re B Corp-certified, it’s a tool for continuously optimizing our company for the future. The challenge we needed to overcome to become B-Corp As a mission-driven agency, many of our practices were already aligned with B Corp standards. However, to become a certified B Corp, we needed to make our initiatives more visible and measurable—in both the work we do for our clients and in our internal initiatives. Additionally, we needed to measure our negative impact on the world, such as during our productions or with our travel, so we could establish a baseline and optimize our practices. This is something we are still working on. Advice for fellow B Corps By becoming a B Corp, you commit to using business as a force for good. I believe this means taking a leadership role in your industry to drive change. At Home, we aim to do this through our Socializer events, by participating in industry initiatives such as Reframe and by being a founding partner of PlusPlusOne. This is advice for fellow B-Corps, but also for other companies who are not B-Corp (yet). Creating change is only possible when we work together. We need each other for inspiration, knowledge and best practices.

Psst, I'm looking for a new role 👀 After almost a year of interesting international projects at SkyinQ with Soyeh, Steven and Irene, a full-time role with a tad more predictability and set weekly hours has become a must-have at this point in life. Therefore, without further ado: I am looking for a new role that could be in global strategic marketing, brand management, digital marketing, or social media & content. When put in a nutshell, I am somewhat of a marketing all-rounder. I have 12+ years in global marketing, most gained from a digital and/or omnichannel environment, with a specialization in content marketing. I can do everything from strategies, media collaborations and stakeholder management to content creation, data analytics, and event management. I like it when days are versatile, when I get to exercise my brain and think outside the box, and do different things throughout the day.
