🤩 The RevenueCat SDK for Kotlin Multiplatform has reached its stable v1 release! It started as an independent project, KobanKat, by Joop Korteweg, who now shares the key decisions behind building it. Decisions such as: 1️⃣ Choosing a top-down architecture The main decision we had to make was around the architecture. While Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) SDKs are often built bottom-up, our existing cross-platform SDKs follow a top-down approach. To maintain consistency, we chose to build the KMP SDK top-down as well — and thanks to KMP’s flexibility, this approach worked well. 2️⃣ Opting for wrappers over type aliases Initially, KobanKat used type aliases for accessing platform-specific implementations. However, this exposed platform SDKs to the app’s platform source sets, which could lead to breaking changes. To avoid this, we switched to wrappers, allowing for future improvements without disrupting the public API. The Kotlin Multiplatform SDK has everything you need to start earning revenue with your KMP app — and then some. For example, the KMP SDK also supports Paywalls! [TECH] API vs SDK: could you tell the main difference in a short sentence? ​​​🧐​ In our tech world, API and SDK are essential concepts and tools, but they are often misunderstood and their aim swapped. But guess what, API and SDK are not the same and actually serve different purposes. Let's define them in a simpler way: ​​​🌉​ 𝗔𝗣𝗜 - 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲: imagine it as a bridge that allows different software to communicate with each other. Better, it’s like a menu that tells you what services or data you can use. And then you pick the one that suits your objective, to see what you wish. For example, at Visioglobe, developers can use an API to call a specific action, such as the integration of real-time information into a map; this way enabling dynamic features. ​​​🧰​ 𝗦𝗗𝗞 - 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝘁: see it as a toolkit that includes everything you need to build applications. It could be APIs, libraries, documentation, and sometimes sample code. This is an interesting usability issue with post authoring on LinkedIn. I see that the "Rewrite with AI" call-to-action doesn't become activated until I have a sufficient amount of content in my post (presumably having to do with either the underlying API constraints or the value-add of the model). But, when the feature is "OFF" and then becomes "ON" while I'm typing, I can't help but _feel_ as if the application is telling me that it detected a problem with my writing and is now _suggesting_ that I use AI to improve it. I suspect that a better experience would be to always show the "Rewrite with AI" as actionable; and then, explain that I might not have enough input text at the time I try to consume it. This way, the activation of the button cannot be confused as an inherent judgement on my writing ability. #UserExperience #ProductDesign #HumanInTheLoop

Wow. There is a lot to love about this introduction to coupling and cohesion.
