The ECOFIN yesterday reached agreement on the EU’s 'VAT in the Digital Age' (ViDA) proposal, which included the much expected plan to implement a standardised cross-border e-invoicing and digital reporting mandate across EU member states. Whilst this created much excitement across news feeds, for many businesses this no doubt feels more like another challenge in an already complex digital reporting compliance environment. Combined with the UK Government’s intention for a consultation on the adoption of electronic invoicing, this really strengthens the case for businesses to approach e-invoicing with a scalable plan and mitigate the impact that would otherwise be felt across various business functions.
