What if... nothing is impossible?
Over ons
Fast developments create challenges for which plug and play solutions do not exist. We believe designers possess the inventiveness and creativity that form the basis for innovation. Design is a flexible and extendible discipline that can respond to the changes that modern society – and that of the future – demands. What if Lab challenges the business community and the design world to come up with specific answers to current issues. What if Lab is about exchange: companies and service organizations get the chance to work closely with professionals in design and designers get the chance can get caught up in large, more complex challenges. Both parties broaden their network at the same time. What if Lab is there for everyone who believes that everything can be better, more beautiful or more efficient and that recognizes the challenge in every problem. Results from the past offer no guarantees for the future, but do provide the proof that nothing is impossible!

New open call! 📣 This time, we’re not looking for designers, but for a collaborative partner. Is your organisation actively working towards making Indonesia greener, healthier, fairer, more sustainable, and/or future-proof? Do you have a challenge or complex problem that requires fresh creative perspectives? If so, we would love to collaborate with you! A team of designers will approach your challenge through research and analysis, community engagement, interactive workshops, and concept presentations. They will help you develop innovative solutions. Together, we will build strong international partnerships between the Netherlands and Indonesia, share creative strategies for sustainable development, and showcase the results in prominent exhibitions. Floris Schoonderbeek in De wereld van Dutch Design (VPRO) episode 1 about food. There is a lot of waste in the food industry, and intensive livestock farming also faces challenges. How can things be done differently and better? In the Netherlands, we mainly eat one type of carrot nowadays, even though hundreds of varieties are available at the Dutch seed bank. In this episode, you will see Daan Overgaag, Floris Schoonderbeek, and Fides Lapidaire. Daan Overgaag has planted various forgotten crops in his garden and cooks on the spot with what he harvests. © Floris Schoonderbeek has developed the concept of 'circle farming' in What if Lab: Totally Local with Sweco: strips of different crops in a circular shape. The spaces between these circles can be used for other purposes, such as housing or forestry. Fides Lapidaire has developed a circular product that enhances the quality of human waste, which in turn can improve soil quality. Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gWG9USTd Visit CircleFarming in Klokgebouw at Ketelhuisplein and see the circles come to life.

In What if Lab: The giving city, three design studios teamed up with Sweco to design for tomorrow's regenerative city. If we want a sustainable and social future for cities, we need to rethink how we organise, build and inhabit urban environments. Sweco believes that the city of the future is a city that gives back; by providing more than it asks for, allowing people and nature to live together in harmony. How do the participating design studios Volle Grond, Fides Lapidaire and Studio Kornelia Dimitrova x Massif Architects design that city? Find the developed concepts here! https://lnkd.in/eSXz3Enk During Dutch Design Week you will find the presentations of these concepts in Klokgebouw at Strijp-S. Will we see you there? #whatiflab #thegivingcity #regenerative #cities Philippe Rol, Fides Lapidaire, Kornelia Dimitrova, Aukje Goossens, Aleksandar Tadic
