🚨 New EU Labelling Rules for Breakfast Products 🚨 Did you know that new EU regulations are changing the game's rules for breakfast products? 💡 If you work with honey, juices or jams, these regulations directly impact how you label and market your products. This is exciting news for consumers and producers alike! The EU has officially adopted revised labelling rules for breakfast products to enhance transparency and consumer information. Here are the key changes: 🍯 Honey: Clearer labelling of countries of origin to combat honey fraud. Labels will now list countries in descending order by weight, including the percentage each country represents. 🍊 Fruit Juices: Introduction of three new categories - 'reduced-sugar fruit juice', 'reduced-sugar fruit juice from concentrate', and 'concentrated reduced-sugar fruit juice'. Labels can now state that fruit juices contain only naturally occurring sugars. 🍓 Jams: Increased minimum fruit content from 350g to 450g per kilo in jams and from 450g to 500g per kilo in extra jams. This change supports healthier diets and the fruit market. 🥛 Dehydrated Milk: New rules allow for producing lactose-free dehydrated milk products. TracePack offers advanced solutions such as laser coding, automatic industrial labellers, and inkjet printing to ensure compliance with these new regulations. These technologies help maintain clear and precise labelling, ensuring all product information remains legible throughout the supply chain. These updates will empower consumers with better information and promote healthier choices. The new measures will be applicable throughout the EU starting June 2026. #FoodLabelling #ConsumerRights #HealthyEating #Transparency

The iconic barcode, a simple strip of lines with a numeric identification key that opens the product listing doors seemingly like magic for suppliers and manufacturers alike. But is there more to this number than meets the eye? While barcodes play an important role in identifying products and even making it possible to sell the product, the true power lies in the data behind those digits. To unlock that power one needs to speak the right language, a universal language for global trade, that will ensure that product information is translated throughout the value chain to deliver accurate and transparent information to those needing it the most. Explore how the common language provided by GS1 is creating more efficient, data-driven supply chains, and helping businesses stay ahead of consumer expectations in today’s fast-paced market. 🌍✨ #TrustedSource #TrustedData #GS1 #SupplyChain #DataTransparency #GlobalCommerce #BusinessEfficiency #ConsumerDemand

Bridging Local Practices to Global Food Standards: A Namibian Supply Chain Perspective. Namibia’s rich indigenous knowledge systems hold untapped potential for building sustainable, transparent food supply chains. By integrating these practices with modern traceability tools like GS1 standards, we can create a supply chain model that meets stringent global regulations, such as the EU’s Green Deal, while preserving our cultural heritage. Imagine mahangu grain, wild marula, or sustainably harvested fish moving through supply chains that guarantee not only quality and traceability but also a story of tradition, sustainability, and innovation. This isn’t just about food—it’s about empowering rural communities, opening global markets for SMEs, and aligning Namibia with the future of sustainable food supply chains. Let’s discuss how we can merge local and global to create resilient supply chains that benefit everyone. #Sustainability #Traceability #FoodSupplyChain #Namibia #IndigenousKnowledge #GlobalStandards #GS1 #SupplyChain

We’d like to set the record straight on barcodes. Recently there has been incorrect messaging circulating, claiming that any product not starting with a ‘600’ barcode is fake or illegal. This is completely false! Here are the facts you need to know: - Products made or packaged in South Africa have barcodes starting with ‘600’, thanks to GS1 South Africa. - Products from other countries will have different barcode numbers. - Just because a barcode doesn’t start with ‘600’ doesn’t mean the product is fake or illegal. - For example, South African member companies have prefixes of 600 while for example companies in the UK have prefixes that start with 500 - 509. While we are deeply concerned about the issue of counterfeit and illicit products, especially in the food and beverage sector, it is incorrect to assume that products without the 600 prefixes are not legitimate. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? Each company is given a special number (called a GS1 Prefix) that appears in their barcodes. This number can show where the company is registered, but it doesn’t tell where the product was actually made. For example, a company could be based in China, but their products may be made in South Africa or another country. 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 We are working on an app that will help you verify products you buy, whether from big stores, online, or informal markets. This app will help you confirm if a product is genuine. Right now any consumer can be sure where the barcode was issued by referencing this link https://bit.ly/3YFkfWX Furthermore, we work with companies to make sure they use GS1-approved barcodes. Through the Consumer Goods Crime Risk Initiative, we’re also helping protect the food supply chain, so products get from the manufacturer to your local shops safely. Report illicit or counterfeit product on 0800 014 856. #CGCSA #Barcodes

Township Entrepreneur Developer. ESD & Transformation advisor. .Awarded Entrepreneur. Keynote Speaker. Creative.

The township is more than just a place; it’s a powerhouse of economic activity and cultural richness. For too long, it has been underestimated by those who fail to see the potential that thrives within its bustling streets and dynamic markets. But make no mistake, undermine the township and its vibrant economy at your own peril. The reality of the township is that they were spaces created by the apartheid system to oppress and keep the black population away from mainstream economies. However, in the true spirit of resilience and creativity, we have been able to create solutions far ahead of their time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. The whole world is looking at us and how it can participate in our economy. Let’s guard and participate in our economy. #GetThingsDone #JoinUsForTEA #townshipeconomy

In today’s fast-paced, consumer-driven market, it's all too easy for businesses to fall into the trap of "tick box" thinking—the belief that if you simply check off the required steps, you’ve done your job. Whether it’s complying with regulations, launching a product, or executing a marketing campaign, the mindset is often, "As long as we do this or that, it’s enough." But here’s the catch: doing just enough is rarely enough to drive lasting success. When businesses limit themselves to meeting only the most basic requirements—whether regulatory, operational, or strategic—they often miss out on the bigger opportunities that lie just beyond the minimum. In the case of the updated EU labelling regulations for wine, for example, simply ticking off the boxes for nutritional information and ingredient disclosure might feel like compliance is achieved. But it’s just the starting point. By focusing solely on what’s mandatory, wine producers risk overlooking the larger opportunity to build brand trust, drive consumer loyalty, and engage in deeper storytelling. In this article, we’ll explore why sticking to "just enough" can leave your business stuck in neutral, and why taking a more proactive, forward-thinking approach can unlock untapped potential and set you on a path to sustainable growth. Let’s break free from the tick box mentality and embrace a mindset that sees beyond the bare minimum to the real possibilities ahead. #WineIndustry #DataTransparency #GS1 #QRcodes #DigitalLabeling #Sustainability #ConsumerEngagement #EURegulations #WineBusiness #DigitalTransformation
