  • ACCELERATING IMPACT TOGETHER | As we approach the halfway mark of this Decade of Restoration, we look back with gratitude on all we’ve achieved thus far. We celebrate the partnerships that have enabled the restoration and protecting of tropical forests in many countries around the world. Thank you for your collaboration and trust to make this possible. A significant acceleration of efforts is needed in the second half of this decade to adequately address the global climate, biodiversity, and social challenges. 2025 marks a pivotal year for this. We look forward to intensifying our relationship with you and continue to bridge the gap between forests and finance. Together, we will deliver impactful projects that bring positive change at scale. 🎄🎇 We wish you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous, impactful New Year! 🎆❤️ Warm wishes, The Treevive Team

  • RESTORING NATURE, REVIVING BIODIVERSITY | MLR Forestal, Nicaragua At Treevive, we support impactful projects, and one of these is the MLR Forestal project, located within the buffer zone of the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve in Nicaragua. 🌳 Spanning 4,204 hectares, this reforestation project dedicates 28% of its area to the protection and conservation of biodiversity. 🦥 With robust monitoring systems, 973 species have been identified, and native species are being planted to accelerate ecosystem recovery. This creates a haven for wildlife while restoring critical habitats. 🌾 Sustainable practices like pairing teak and cocoa not only benefit the environment but also support local communities, providing 700 quality jobs annually and fostering environmental education through programs like "green classrooms." As Luis Lopez, Sustainable Development Manager at MLR Forestal, puts it: “I want the trees to grow, not just to capture carbon, but to improve the sites, support species movement, and combat global warming.” Contact us to explore opportunities for supporting this impactful project through carbon credit purchases! #Biodiversity #Reforestation #ClimateAction #SustainableForestry #BosawasBiosphereReserve

  • 🌱 Restoring Forests in Northern Uganda 🌳 Treevive is supporting Green Environ Forestry (GEF) in developing an ARR carbon project covering 5,500 ha of plantations and 14,000 ha of forest conservation within Central Forest Reserves in Northern Uganda. Recent milestones include biomass assessments, social and soil studies, and a confirmed pre-feasibility by Form International. Upcoming activities will focus on flora, fauna, and High Conservation Value (HCV) studies, as well as intensified community engagement and pilot plot planting. This project integrates plantation forestry and conservation through a sustainable business model, addressing degradation while delivering climate, biodiversity, and socio-economic benefits. We look forward to the outcome of the aforementioned studies and the coming period in which the community engagement will intensify, the project design will be further detailed, and the first pilot plots will be planted. #ForestRestoration #CarbonProjects #Uganda #ForestConservation https://lnkd.in/eEek7YMU

Co-founder and CEO Treevive | Sustainability professional | Social entrepreneur

Wednesday evening I had the opportunity to participate in a panel of VPRO Tegenlicht at Pakhuis de Zwijger to have a discussion with Ties Gijzel, investigative journalist at Follow the Money, about investing in nature, its importance and the role of the voluntary carbon markets. Ties has published different articles about misconduct in the voluntary carbon market (VCM) related to conflict of interests in the system, issues with baseline setting in REDD+ projects and conflicts with indigenous communities. My vision is that the VCM is an important market mechanism to deploy the much-needed private investments for nature conservation and restoration, especially in the tropical forest region where we are focusing on. And yes, it's not perfect and it needs to be better organized with more transparency and better regulations. And this has been and is being done. More importantly, I don’t see any other private finance mechanisms yet that can do the same on scale. And I also don’t see governments and taxpayers cueing up to pick up the check.   Preventing a climate crisis and keeping global warming (well) below two degrees as is the ambition of the Paris Climate Accord needs all the elements we have at hand: rapid decarbonization and taking CO2 out of the atmosphere. This can and should be done with all technological and natural systems we have. Forests are hereby the most scalable and cost-effective way for this, but still requires significant capital. A $700 billion annual gap remains to adequately fund nature. This simply will not be deployed without private sector finance. With Treevive we support forest owners, companies, NGOs and communities, to develop their carbon asset and improve their forest business case to make it investable. We support them with attracting the needed finance for forest conservation and/or restoration. We are fully committed to that goal and expect a stronger and growing VCM will support that. Through the VCM we can restore and protect forests which help in the climate fight and simultaneously protects biodiversity and enhances the livelihood of many people in the global South. Anyone that only opposes the VCM should at least bring forward equally suitable solutions. Thanks to Stephane Kaas for explaining the topic to a broader public and to Cecile Trooster and Quinten Torre for organizing and Bahram Sadeghi for moderating this meet up. #forests #climate #biodiversity #NBS #VCM #investinginnature

  • EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES, GROWING FORESTS | MLR Forestal, Nicaragua We believe that reforestation projects can do more than restore nature—they can transform lives. Our MLR Forestal project in Nicaragua is a good example, combining environmental restoration with meaningful community impact. 👍 This project provides 700 quality jobs annually, prioritizing fair wages, permanent employment, and improved living conditions for workers. 🤝 Strong relationships with local and indigenous communities ensure respectful collaboration and shared benefits. 🫂 Community engagement is central to MLR Forestal’s mission. Through environmental education programs like “green classrooms,” local schools are actively involved in learning about sustainability, fostering a deeper connection to their natural surroundings. As Luis Lopez, Sustainable Development Manager, explains: “The most tangible contribution I see is in environmental education. We teach communities to care for their environment, which improves not just the land but also the quality of life for everyone involved.” Contact us to explore opportunities for supporting this impactful project through carbon credit purchases! #CarbonCreditsWork #SocialImpact #Reforestation #CommunityDevelopment #Sustainability

    CEO at Carbon Growth Partners

Much has been written and much remains to be done. But this weekend headline from Carbon Pulse sums it up nicely. More importantly, the operationalisation and scale of the carbon markets is a momentous win for the climate. And now we gotta go. In less than the time taken to negotiate and fully operationalise Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, NASA's #Artemis program will have: - been conceived, planned and funded - delivered astronauts to the moon. The time for delay is over. If you are a company, or a country, the only ethical course of action now is to #ReduceAndInvest, every tonne, every time. No excuses, no exceptions.
