JIT or "just in time" is a valuable Lean concept, but not so easy to implement. Plenty of companies have paid for poor implementation with bankruptcy.

Back in the 80's and 90's, watching movies at home went via these tapes. There were two main systems: Betamax (the smaller tape on the picture) was more compact, had better resolution, higher capacity and first mover advantage. Yet it was totally crushed by VHS tapes (the larger one in the picture). Apparently, the customers' quality perception entailed more than mere technical specs. Do you know how your customers experience quality?

Jill is sitting on a pile of money without knowing it. Assume that her company has a staff of 100, who on average send/receive 10 emails per business day internally. If she can shave off 1 minute of reading time from each #email, she saves 1,000 minutes per day. That's 5,000 minutes per business week. That's 260,000 minutes, or 4,333 hours per year! A simple internally agreed on maximum email length can already achieve this 1 minute reduction. Multiply that by the average wage and you will be amazed. #Lean communication = save money.
