📢 PPWR passes the final hurdle! 🎉 Today the Council of the EU has adopted the new regulation on packaging and packaging waste. This marks the end of several years of intense negotiations and is a big milestone for the packaging industry. ⏰The 18-month countdown to compliance will soon begin! What does that mean? Britta Wyss Bisang, Chair of the RCTP Business Group, welcomes this final step: “We are thrilled to see the PPWR is now over the line. The PPWR is a key milestone for “reuse” as it sets clear goals to reduce waste and promote sustainable packaging. It encourages businesses to move from a “take-make-dispose” model to a more resource-efficient, circular system where materials are reused multiple times rather than discarded.
