Choose the level of redundancy for your control system: With the RTP3400 Dragon you have the ability to configure the system according to the level of availability and cost required. The system can have one, or two Node Processors residing in one chassis or separate chassis. For a TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) system, the processors are located in three separate chassis. I/O redundancy can be accomplished on one card, across multiple cards in a common chassis, or across multiple chassis. The RTP3200 TAS N+ uses a multiprocessor architecture that performs logic solving with 1ms scancycle, 1ms I/O scanning for both digital and analog, internal and external system communications and extensive diagnostics, for full coverage of system health checking. All tasks are divided over multiple CPU's running in parallel. The Advanced Diagnostics which are run on every scan pass, check, re-check, validate and re-validate that every decision made is correct before any implementation. The integrity is still further enhanced by carrying out a multiple-layered voting that includes the node processors and I/O point Level. Calculated in accordance with IEC61508/61511 regulations and Exida Markov Model, the RTP 3000 T.A.S. achieves an MTTFS of over 60.000 years. The RTP3000 N+ Safety system and the RTP3400 Dragon Control system use a common set of software applications, NetSuite, in an easy-to-use environment. The RTP development software NetArrays supports the IEC61131-3 programming languages. IEC61131-3 is a specification of the syntax and semantics of a unified suite of programming languages, including the overall software model and a structuring language. Within the common elements, the data types are defined. Data typing prevents errors in an early stage. The four core PLC languages of IEC61131-3 are Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart, and Structured Text, all supported by NetArrays. In addition to these languages, RTP has added a State Sequencer capability, a user defined function capability programmed in C++ and a Fuzzy Inference Engine to support developing or integrating advanced control strategies. One of the major qualities of a control system is that the control functions can be distributed into small sets of subsystems that are semi-autonomous, using a distributed architecture. When RTP introduced the N+ architecture, RTP extended the concept of a distributed architecture, the domain. The concept of this domain architecture is that every time you add a chassis you increase the compute power of the system by adding another Node Processor. The control application is distributed to each processor which then solves it’s part of the application. In effect each node is now a subsystem operating semi-autonomously and adding a significant amount of computer power compared to the traditional centralized system. Nodes inside a Domain can be single, dual, or triple redundant. Variables are shared between Nodes in a Domain using its Domain I/O Network and between domains using Peer-to-Peer communications. Multiple domains can be setup within one system, allowing very large I/O quantities. The result of the domain architecture is that as more logic and I/O are added to the system, more compute power is also added and the system remains at the high scan rate of upto 1ms. The RTP3400 Dragon supports the domain architecture and can be configured as a 3400 Dragon only domain, or can comingle with the N+ safety system in a domain. The RTP3400 Dragon has an impressive fast scancycle of 1ms and brings also more compute power to the implementation of diagnostics, delivering the Highest Integrity, Highest Availability and Highest Reliability that RTP systems are known for to deliver. For instance, each processor in the Dragon solves the logic 3 times in one 1ms scan and votes the results internally. The voted result is shared with the redundant processors for a final vote before any action is taken.
