The agreement gives us exclusive rights to incorporate Clinatec's investigational WIMAGINE® BCI into our investigational ARC-BCI™ System and extends our leadership in the effort to develop and commercialize BCI-enabled therapies to restore thought-driven movement of the human body after paralysis. ✨ Integrating Clinatec’s BCI with our investigational ARC-IM System creates a #DigitalBridge™ that wirelessly bypasses the injured part of the spinal cord to restore brain-to-body communication. Imagine a future in which thoughts can drive movement after paralysis, empowering individuals to reclaim control and independence never before possible. The WIMAGINE BCI has 7 years of human safety data and ONWARD ARC-IM Therapy has now been applied in more than 30 study participants. ✨ Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).     The United Nations began this day of observance five years ago to ensure that people with disabilities in conflict situations have access to justice, services, and humanitarian aid.     The theme for #IDPD2024 is “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.”     The UN will commemorate #IDPD2024 with a series of events around the world, including a main event at UN headquarters in New York. 🇺🇳    The UN’s key goals include:    ⭐️ Empowering people with disabilities with leadership and decision-making opportunities.  ⭐️ Promoting awareness and inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society.  ⭐️ Celebrating the achievements of those with disabilities.     We honor persons with disabilities, which include the seven million people with spinal cord injury (SCI) worldwide, for the day-to-day challenges and unmet needs they face. 🛎️ We are excited to announce a grant from the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) to study the potential for our investigational ARC-BCI™ System with brain-computer interface (BCI) technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to restore upper limb movement after subcortical stroke. While helping people with spinal cord injury (SCI) remains our North Star 🌟, this grant underscores the potential for our breakthrough therapies to impact people with other movement disabilities, such as stroke, which affects approximately 15 million people worldwide each year per the World Stroke Organization. “Run. For those who dream to walk.”     💫 That’s the powerful mission behind Run In The Dark, a worldwide event that brings together 25,000 people in 50 cities around the world. As darkness sweeps across the globe, participants slip on their red flashing armbands and run, walk, roll, or move for 5K or 10K to raise money towards a cure for paralysis.     We are proud to take part in this annual event, and this year, dozens of our team members participated to show our support for this global movement. 🙏    International motivational speaker, athlete, and author Mark Pollock started Run in the Dark 14 years ago. After Mark became blind and paralyzed from a fall in 1998, he began a journey as an adventure athlete, competing in ultra-endurance races across deserts, mountains, and the polar ice caps. His many achievements include medals at the Commonwealth Games and becoming the first blind person to race to the South Pole.     Mark set up Collaborative Cures, galvanizing scientists and technologists to ultimately find solutions for the spinal cord injury (SCI) community. His team works alongside advocacy groups like Wings for Life - Spinal Cord Research Foundation and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.   We at ONWARD Medical are inspired by Mark’s dream to find a cure for paralysis.
