🔥 Extreme Conditions, Perfect Performance: Thermal Cycling Success ❄️ We engineer our batteries for the toughest conditions, knowing that our customers rely on this to keep their operations running smoothly. Next up in our Motive.li Safety Series we would like to talk about the Thermal Cycling Test. This test ensures our batteries can withstand exposure to rapidly changing environments, which is important for safety as our batteries work in a range of environments from heat to freezing cold stores. Our batteries had to withstand being switched between hot and cold environments (from -40⁰C/-40⁰F and +85°C/185⁰F). We are proud to say that after resetting to room-temperature, these extremes did not affect their optimal functioning at all! Safe by Design: Motive.li Passes the Single Cell Failure Test Safety is engineered into our battery design. By prioritising safety through rigorous quality control, robust engineering, and compliance with stringent industry standards, we mitigate risks such as overheating or thermal runaway. This is arguable one of the biggest safety concerns with lithium-ion batteries, where the failure of one cell could lead to the whole battery pack catching fire. For this reason, we wanted the next post in our Motive.li Safety Series to shine a spotlight on the Single Cell Failure Test. This test was conducted through nail penetration of a cell within a full battery assembly. The purpose was to see if this single cell failure would result in thermal runaway. The result: No thermal runaway, no fire, no explosion - proving once again, that our batteries stand up to the highest safety standards! This commitment to safety not only protects people, cargo, and equipment but also reinforces trust in our solutions, enabling our customers to transition confidently to sustainable, electric-powered operations. Built to Withstand the Pressure: Motive.li’s Crush Test Success When it comes to our batteries, safety is always top of mind. Not only are our batteries engineered to be tough, robust, and built to last, but also to be fundamentally safe. We know this because we’ve put our batteries through some extreme tests to check for their safety and longevity performance. These tests include rigorous mechanical, electrical, environmental, tolerance and quality tests. Over the next few posts we’d like to show you just how safe our motive.li batteries are. First up in the Motive.li Safety Series, is the Crush Test. This test looks at how our batteries might withstand being crushed – for example should they for some reason be in an accident. The test involved withstanding a 10-ton static load conducted on all three axes. Our batteries showed no signs of strain and passed this safety test with flying colours.
