Learning By Simulation is proud to communicate that it has held a very successful pilot run of its new course “Biologicals Development Simulation”! This course focusses on the multi-disciplinary route of the development of a novel antibody in oncology, from target discovery until the End-of Phase II. We are thankful for the participants coming from 10 different companies who contributed to make this course a success. This new course will now be part of our annual agenda, and the next one will be in the second quarter of 2025. If you are interested, please contact us at [email protected].

Over ons
LBS Learning By Simulation strongly believes in the use of simulations to familiarize individuals with complex matter in a short time. In our simulations we apply a unique condensed method of training that allows you to gain insight in the overall working process of your organization. You will operate in a team setting to make strategic choices, to be decisive and to improvize. You will learn to speak the language of your colleagues and to respect other disciplines. LBS offers participants the opportunity to experience this very intensive method of learning in order to better understand their professional environment. The past decade, LBS designed and conducted a number of specific simulations for the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, LBS is also your partner in developing simulations for your specific organization. More than ten years of experience using the simulation training method within the pharmaceutical industry have convinced us that this is the most effective and efficient training method for employees to gain insight into complex processes. The heart of LBS consists of three highly experienced people in pharmaceutical research & development and simulation course development: Leon Delbressine, 1953, has a PhD in organic chemistry and pharmacology. He has over 30 years experience in pharmaceutical R&D. Leo van de Wouw, 1955, is trained as a teacher in drama and director of educational video’s. Sjeng Horbach, 1957, is toxicologist with a PhD in biochemistry. He has over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D.

We have been and are working hard on an update of our Biologicals Simulation in the field of oncology. And we are aware that the first try-outs have been delayed. The reason for this was that we were definitely waiting for a version that would agree with our high standards. We are happy to say that the first in-life pilot version of this new course will take place September 30-October 2, 2024 in De Ruwenberg, Sint Michielsgestel. This course will be a pilot. The costs for this course will be extremely low, but it will be expected from the participants to help us to improve the course with their input. Please be advised that there are only limited places available. Please contact us at [email protected]. For more information: https://lnkd.in/e9pY2s4n

This post comes with a huge delay but I still want to share it as it might be of interest to others in my network. Last December I had the great opportunity to participate in the Drug Development Simulation course by Learning By Simulation. This is a 3-day hands-on intense (really intense) course where you are part of a drug development team and get one of the key roles (marketing, toxicologist, regulatory, CMC, clinical). I had the chance to be the CMC lead (something far from my expertise) as well as the Team Lead. During the course, you need to bring "your company's" lead compound into FIH by means of evaluating data, requesting new studies based on simulated outcomes, overcoming hurdles along the process, talking to board members and interacting with regulatory officials, making sure the TPP and all the other marketing and clinical trial protocols are in place. My biggest learnings: - Drug Development is amazingly fun 😉 - Communication within the cross-functional team is key. - Leading a team under stress comes with interesting challenges. The LBS team and facilitators are all experienced drug developers in biotech/pharma and did an amazing job at challenging us as well as guiding us to achieve the approval to start our FIH. Julien Villaudy, Sjeng Horbach, Leo Van De Wouw and the rest of the LBS team thanks for that amazing course!! I highly recommend it to anyone doing or involved in one way or another with Drug Development. There is also the possibility to take an earlier stage Drug Discovery course.
