Over ons

We are the world's leading pure-play coffee and tea company, with local roots dating back over two centuries: In 1753 in Joure, the Netherlands, Egberts Douwe founded his first coffee outlet. Over a century later, in 1895, Johann Jacobs opened his first grocery business in Bremen, Germany. Then in 1966, in Berkeley, California, Alfred Peet opened his first Peet's coffee store. Today, we unleash the possibilities of coffee and tea in more than 100 countries with a portfolio of over 50 brands, including L’OR, Peet’s, Jacobs, Senseo, Tassimo, Douwe Egberts, OldTown, Super, Pickwick and Moccona. We serve approximately 4,100 cups of coffee or tea every second, and in 2023 generated total sales of EUR 8.2 billion and employed a global workforce of more than 21,000 employees. We: • are powered by our purpose: We unleash the possibilities of coffee and tea to create a better future; • are led by our vision: A coffee & tea for every cup; and • believe: It’s amazing what can happen over a cup of coffee or tea.

  • We’re honoured to be recognised by Catalyst Inc. with an award for our commitment to building a better future where we can authentically serve, reflect, and embrace everyone around us. The Catalyst Awards highlights innovative initiatives which advance everyone, regardless of background.    “At JDE Peet’s, we’re creating a future that authentically serves, reflects, and embraces everyone,” said Rafa Oliveira, CEO of JDE Peet’s. “Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion — guided by our belief in ‘standing together in our differences’ — has fostered a workplace where everyone can bring their true selves to work. We are honoured to see our progress recognised by Catalyst, and it is a powerful reminder that while we celebrate milestones, our journey continues, and when we unleash our full potential, we succeed as a team.”    With innovative tools like the DE&I Maturity Model and Activation Toolkit and the tireless efforts of our DE&I Champions, we’ve made strides in inclusive talent practices and representation. From 2021 to 2023, women’s representation increased significantly across our leadership, rising from 25% to 36.4% on the Executive Committee, from 37.2% to 41.5% on the Global Leadership team, and from 23.1% to 38.5% on the Board of Directors.    This recognition inspires us to keep driving forward — for our people, our communities, and the future of coffee and tea. https://lnkd.in/ekvbgf2Q   #TrueYOU #DiversityEquityInclusion #CatalystAwards ##CommonGrounds #ConnectingPeople

  • Soil serves as the cornerstone of life, supplying 95% of our food—including coffee and tea—and is essential in the fight against climate change. UN reports indicate that the planet loses 24 billion tons of fertile land each year. Soil depletion makes it harder for the soil to help fight climate change by absorbing carbon. Meanwhile, climate change worsens soil problems like erosion and salinisation. JDE Peet's is committed to protecting this important resource by using sustainable practices. In Brazil, for example, we empower smallholder coffee farmers with regenerative techniques like cover cropping, improving fertility, reducing erosion, and boosting carbon sequestration (capturing and storing atmospheric carbon). In Colombia, we’re addressing soil erosion and degradation by promoting contour planting, organic fertilisers, and innovative solutions like turning coffee pulp into compost to improve structure and water retention, and biogas, all while supporting local farmers and empowering women. Our commitment to soil is an important aspect of our Common Grounds program and one of our nine focus areas in our Responsible Sourcing Principles. Together, these initiatives foster a sustainable future where coffee, communities, and nature coexist harmoniously. • At JDE Peet's we’re brewing more than just coffee and tea; we're also crafting a sustainable future. ☕✨ In our latest video, we offer a glimpse inside our Utrecht roastery, highlighting the practical steps taken to conserve energy and transition to cleaner sources like electricity and hydrogen. Additionally, we're transforming coffee waste into new products, such plasterboards, promoting a circular economy. This initiative is part of our Minimising Footprint pillar, standing alongside Responsible Sourcing and Connecting People, all of which are part of the Common Grounds programme. Together, these pillars support our commitment to achieving net zero by 2050. Want to learn more about our sustainability strategy and join this green revolution? • As we reflect on World Children’s Day, we are pleased to share that our scores increased by 0.8, reaching a total of 7.5 in the 2024 Global Child Forum Children's Rights and Business Benchmark, developed in partnership with the Boston Consultancy Group. 📈 This achievement places us at the forefront of the benchmark, significantly exceeding the sector average of 4.6 for Food & Beverage.  Although we take pride in our progress, our work is not done yet. Unfortunately, children’s rights are still not a given; for instance, child labour still occurs in the tea and coffee industry. This underscores the importance of monitoring and intervention in high-risk areas, as well as tackling root causes. Through our Common Grounds programme and our Assess, Address & Progress approach, we are collaborating with partners to tackle these challenges and contribute to the solution. This dedication helps us realise our purpose of unleashing the possibilities of coffee and tea to create a better future. 🌟  Click here to learn more about the Children's Rights Benchmark https://lnkd.in/dYYV9h63 Or visit our website to discover more about our human right programmes https://lnkd.in/e5yQtESa #Sustainability #ChildRights #JDEPeets #CommonGrounds #GCFBenchmark24
