Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Benchmarking Workshop   Today we co-organized the second OECD - OCDE – Utrecht University Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Workshop in Paris, with a focus on benchmarking as a policy tool for all 38 OECD countries, building on the excellent data analytics team work by OECD colleagues Roberto Crotti, Jonathan Potter, Pablo Shah, with a little contribution by myself.   In the workshop, a lot of very useful feedback was provided by Bernd Wurth, Mark Hart, Arnis Sauka, Cesare Riillo, Nataliya Langburd Wright, Jip Leendertse, Mirella Schrijvers, Timothée Gomot, Robert McDonald, Jonathan Levie, Colin Mason, Job Teurlinx, Salvatore Zecchini, Fernando Gimenez, Edmundo Inácio Junior, Hugo Kantis, Kübra Karataş and Bruno Fischer.   It’s great to see this evolution of the entrepreneurial ecosystem research field (now more than 38000 publications on entrepreneurial ecosystems according to Google Scholar), also with this work done at the OECD to better measure entrepreneurial ecosystems and to better connect it to policy making. We have made quite some progress since the 2013 OECD workshop in The Hague! I'm happy to announce my first publication together with Vítězslav Titl and Fredo Schotanus 🥳 We study the effects of EU co-funding (€90 bln./year) on Green Public Procurment (GPP). We find that EU co-funding does stimulate the uptake of GPP in public projects, but only to a limited extent. We also show that the effect of gained GPP experience is almost trivial. The earlier literature suggests that the removal of financial and knowledge barriers would increase GPP, so why do we find only small effects? Our results suggets that the removal of GPP barriers has a limited effect when the drivers/incentives are weak. We show that GPP uptake does respond to temporary changes in co-funding availability, but not to a 'greener' EU policy focus, which can be explained by the allocation mechanism of EU co-funding. 💡 88% of the +600 managers in our survey said they know nothing or little about #employeeownership. 💡 Only 23% of listed firms 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 offer employee ownership. 💡 17% of SMEs and larger firms offer employee ownership and 32% offer profit sharing in NL. That's a 4% increased for SMEs based on our previous research. Placing NL around the European average. 💡 Only recently did the public debate turn its attention to employee ownership. There seem to be quite some opportunities for further development of employee ownership in NL. Whilst remaining mindful of policy aims & targets.
