2 weeks ago, Erik Frijters - Head of Aerospace and Operational Physiology at Centrum voor Mens en Luchtvaart show cased the Flight Sense System to Gijs Tuinman (Staatssecretaris van Defensie - Gijs Tuinman), during the 12th edition of Innovation in Defence (organised by TNO). As partner of this amazing technology (a health sensing device for fighter pilots during mission) Elitac Wearables was proud to hear the words by Staatssecretaris van Defensie - Gijs Tuinman, saying: "I want the Flight Sense System #launched and implemented, and available to each pilot as soon as possible." 🚀 (no pun intended). Yesterday we were at the TNO Innovation in Defence event in Utrecht. Elitac Wearables was invited not only by TNO, but also by ROM Utrecht Region, because of the multiple innovative projects we are currently doing for the Dutch Ministry of Defence and partners: - The Flight Sense System (FSS): A smart medical grade vital signs tracker, designed to be used by fighter pilots in action. - The Mission Navigation Belt (MNB): A haptic feedback navigation belt for soldiers in the field, increasing situational awareness and reducing cognitive load. - And some others we unfortunately cannot post about publically ... There were some amazing innovations there in drone technology, radar and antenna tech, medical tech, new sensors and much much more! 🧶✨Exploring Advanced Knitting Technologies for Wearables at KnitwearLab 🧵✨ Over the past few weeks, our team had the privilege of visiting KNITWEAR LAB to deep dive into the exciting world of knitting technology. 🏭💡 Knitting is not new to us. But if you know a little bit about industrial knitting, you can agree that there is a whole world to explore: different types of machines, techniques, capabilities. But they all require niche specialisms; designers, operators and engineers... We simply cannot do it all by ourselves. That's why we have great partners in the industry such @BORN GmbH Smart Textiles Hub, and universities like Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Kaspar Jansen TU Delft | Industrial Design Engineering. Luckily, we can now add KNITWEAR LAB to that list (and they are just around the corner!). Building on our prior knowledge in knitting techniques—like those gained in our Cycling Shirt Project with BYBORRE—we explored the vast possibilities of knitting for wearable technology. From experimenting with different structures, and materials, to working with conductive yarns ⚡ to create knitted #sensors, the hands-on experience was invaluable. 🙌🧑🔧 The experience not only expanded our understanding of the innovative applications of knitting, but also reinforced the importance of collaboration and learning. A huge shoutout to the team at KNITWEAR LAB for their expertise and hospitality, and a special thanks to Thijs Verhaar and Guðjón Þorvarðarson! 👏🤝 Our commitment to pushing the boundaries of wearable tech innovation is stronger than ever.
