𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟓𝟔 STORY TIME: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐦😊 Emeka had been a cash officer at 𝐀𝐁𝐂 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤 for five years. He was responsible for managing the bank's vault cash, including counting and reconciling the cash at the beginning and end of each day. One busy Friday morning, Emeka was in a rush to get the bank's doors open on time. He hastily counted the cash in the vault, but didn't bother to reconcile the figures or verify the denominations. Big mistake❗️❗️. Later that day, the Internal Control Officer, Nneoma, conducted a surprise cash count audit. She discovered that Emeka's count was short by ₦500,000 (approximately $1,200 USD). Nneoma immediately escalated the issue to the bank's management, and Emeka was summoned to explain the discrepancy. Emeka was mortified. He apologized profusely and explained that he had been in a rush that morning. However, Nneoma reminded him that cash counting was a critical control procedure that required attention to detail. The bank's management took disciplinary action against Emeka, and he was required to undergo additional training on cash handling procedures. Emeka learned a valuable lesson that day: attention to detail is crucial when it comes to cash handling, and shortcuts can have serious consequences. The question could also be in terms of servoce or subscription etc. Before you ask them why, know what they would rather use. This type of Cloud has its own advantages such as scalability, flexibility, self-service having greater control and security. This type of Cloud is usually On-Premise with its own data center. The organization manages the entire environment, from the hardware to the software layers. Public Cloud: This Cloud has its infrastructure owned and operated by a third-party cloud service provider (CSP) and is made available to the general public or multiple businesses on a pay-per-use basis. The cloud service provider manages the hardware, software, and networking and this allows organizations to focus on using the services rather than maintaining the underlying infrastructure. This type of Cloud is cost-effective for organizations cos it offers scalability, flexibility, and a wide range of services. However, it requires careful consideration of security, compliance, and control based on the specific needs of the organization. Hybrid Cloud: This combines both private and public clouds, as well as on-premises infrastructure. This approach allows organizations to leverage the benefits of both private and public clouds while maintaining the ability to move workloads between the two as needed, depending on cost, performance, and security requirements. Our team struggled to balance the need for rapid iteration with the importance of thorough testing. In this article, I'll share how we approached and solved this challenge, showcasing our critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Problem Our Agile team was working on a complex project with tight deadlines. While we excelled at delivering new features quickly, we noticed a surge in bugs and defects. Our traditional QA process, which relied on manual testing at the end of each sprint, couldn't keep up with the pace of development. We needed a more efficient and effective way to integrate QA into our Agile workflow. The Approach We started by re-examining our development process and identifying areas where QA could be integrated more seamlessly. We decided to adopt a test-driven development (TDD) approach, where developers write automated tests before writing code. This ensured that testing was an integral part of development, rather than an afterthought. Next, we implemented continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment. This allowed us to catch bugs and defects early in the development cycle, reducing the need for manual testing. The Solution By integrating TDD and CI/CD into our Agile workflow, we achieved significant improvements in code quality and reduced the number of bugs and defects. Our team was able to deliver high-quality software faster, meeting the needs of our customers while maintaining our Agile principles. Lessons Learned This experience taught us the importance of critical thinking and problem-solving in software development. By analyzing our process and identifying areas for improvement, we were able to overcome a significant challenge and improve our overall efficiency and effectiveness. We will be discussing Azure & Google Region and Zones, Fault Tolerant, Metrics, Edge Network, Point of Presences, Cache I will be explaining all these by relating it to our daily lives for better understanding. Region: Imagine region as a big toy box also imagine you have so many toys that you need several boxes to keep everything organized. In the cloud, these "toy boxes" are called regions. Azure and Google Cloud are like giant toy boxes in different places all around the world. They store all your data and programs close to where you are so things run fast. Each region consists of one or more data centers, which are physically separated but close enough to provide low-latency network connections. Zones: Now, in these toy boxes, there are smaller compartments. These compartments help keep everything neat, like when you put your cars in one compartment and your action figures in another. Zones are like little compartments inside a big toy box. Zones make sure everything is safe, like if one compartment gets messy, your toys in the other compartments are still fine. In cloud terms, this helps to make sure your apps don’t stop working if one part of the system breaks. Each zone is made up of one or more data centers equipped with independent power, cooling, and networking. This design helps ensure high availability and fault tolerance. These zones are physically separate from each other within the same region to protect your data and applications from data center failures. Fault Tolerance: Regions and zones ensures your applications and services keep running, even when individual parts of the infrastructure (like a data center or availability zone) experience issues. By using regions and availability zones together, you build a resilient system that can handle failures without downtime. Metrics: Imagine you're trying to keep track of how you're doing in different games, like running, jumping, or building with blocks. These numbers or measurements that help you see how well you're doing are called metrics. Computers, apps, and services have their own metrics to help us see how well they are doing. Some examples of computer metrics are: Speed: How fast something works, like loading a website. Usage: How much space is being used, like how full your toy box is. Uptime: How long something stays on without stopping, like how long a game console stays on without turning off. Metrics is used by Load Balancer to check the status of server.
