In my role of serving both as a customer service representative & a telesales agent, I do keep 4  things in mind always as I interact with customers;                                                                                                                         1.Active Listening: Paying close attention to what the customer is saying. This means not just hearing their words but understanding their needs and concerns. Ask clarifying questions if necessary. This helps in providing clear information and guiding the customer thoroughly.                   2.Empathy: Understanding the customer's feelings and frustrations helps build rapport and shows that I genuinely care about their issue. Acknowledging their concerns can make a big difference in their experience.                                                                                                                     3.Clarity: Providing clear and concise information is crucial. Customers appreciate straightforward answers, so I aim to avoid jargon and ensure my explanations are easy to understand.                                                                                                                                                                                4.Patience: Each customer is unique, and some may need more time or explanation than others. Why are you queuing? I was at the bank yesterday to sort some things. I walked into the hall to meet a crowd of people at a Customer Agents desk. I went to another section of the bank to make inquiries, submitted all my details and was asked to join the queue. After some minutes on the queue and out of curiosity, I asked the customer agent why we were queuing there and then she mentioned we were meant to drop the forms we had and wait to be called. When she said that, I dropped mine and some other persons in the queue did same. Noticed that some still had their forms with them because they joined the queue as they were asked to. This information from the bank staff did many things for me: - allowed me to go sort other issues I had while listening for my name. - I was able to make a mental note of the duration I’d be in the bank as compared to waiting aimlessly - It gave me direction. I’m sharing this because I want to emphasize that it’s pertinent to ask questions. What questions are you asking in your career? What myth have you believed without asking why it’s so? How many dos and don’t have you accepted without asking why? This experience got me thinking the whole night about the many things I’ve subscribed to and assumed truth without asking questions. This is a challenge to me and you. Not all truths are true. Ask questions. Unfortunately, this is the situation I encountered after joining Funkez for a digital marketing position. In the beginning, I was thrilled to accept the offer, as the salary discussed during the recruitment process seemed fair and promising. However, once I started working, I quickly realized that the company did not honor the terms laid out in my offer letter. # The Issue: Salary Discrepancy Before joining Funkez, the company extended an offer letter outlining the agreed salary and compensation package for my digital marketing role. However, upon receiving my first few paychecks, I noticed a significant difference between the promised amount and what I was being paid. Despite multiple attempts to address this issue with the management and HR, the problem remains unresolved, leaving me underpaid for the work I perform. #What I Learned from This Experience 1. Always Keep a Record of Your Offer Letter and Communications: Throughout the recruitment process, I ensured I had copies of my offer letter, emails, and any verbal agreements regarding salary. This is crucial if you need to formally escalate the issue. 2.Clarify Salary Terms in Writing: While verbal agreements may feel sufficient during the hiring process, ensure that any discussions around salary, bonuses, or additional perks are reflected in writing. This protects you from any misunderstandings later on. 3. Speak Up Early: If you notice discrepancies, address them immediately. The longer you wait, the harder it can be to correct the situation. I spoke to HR and the finance team as soon as I noticed the problem, but the resolution is still pending. 4. Consider Legal Action if Necessary: If the issue remains unresolved, consider seeking legal advice or approaching a labor authority. In some cases, salary fraud is not just a breach of contract, but it may also violate labor laws, depending on your jurisdiction. #Sharing My Story for Awareness I decided to share my experience on LinkedIn not only to voice my frustration but also to create awareness around such issues. Salary discrepancies happen more often than we think, and it is essential to hold companies accountable for their promises. As professionals, we should expect transparency and integrity when it comes to compensation. If you are dealing with a similar issue, know that you are not alone. Always stand up for your rights, and don't hesitate to seek help when needed. Sharing experiences like these can help build a stronger community of professionals who know their worth and demand fairness in the workplace.

On to the next chapter.. My time at Pezesha has been a growth journey for nearly 2 years. This growth has manifested itself in being trusted to run small to big projects and new products/platforms and seeing Pezesha move from 1.0 to 2.0 platform as the main UI/UX designer I was the centre of this transition from design to launch. I've learned a ton about bouncing back from failures and quickly adapting to make products that users love. One thing I've loved about my journey at Pezesha is how you are given the platform to challenge yourself outside your comfort zone with exciting projects. I've gotten to wear different hats - playing around as a #UXdesigner, getting my hands dirty as a #developer, and dabbling in #productmanagement. The teamwork and execution drive at Pezesha has made it such a cool place to be. Shoutout to Hilda Moraa, who's been more than just a CEO to me - she's been a mentor and a friend. She saw something in me and let me run with it, even when I stumbled. Her approach of letting us fail fast and learn has been a real game-changer and I now take that with me in my next chapter to do better and be better as she always says “Pezesha is to give you the platform to find your purpose, and when you find it, go and create a multiplier effect for other” Leaving Pezesha isn't about saying goodbye; it's about diving into new adventures and seeing life from different angles. My 5-year journey in the university. I gained admission into the University of Technology, LAUTECH precisely. I was admitted into the Urban And Regional Planning (URP) Department. School management finds out that my jamb score was too low to study URP and I was advised to choose to between one Engineering Course and Agricultural Course. I decided to go for agricultural course.( Engineering course is not for me😹) I found out that there are Fine and Applied Arts Courses which can help me to Study Graphics Design which Has been my passion Before I gained Admission. I applied for crossing form in 200level and cross to Fine and Applied Arts Department to chase my Dream. I graduated with Second Class Upper division Even though I have collected my result But my name came out on the Convocation list with Second Class Upper Division. I never thought I would achieve this, but I'm glad I did. . . . . It has always been my dream to acquire a tech skill that would enable me to get a freelance job. 2 months ago, I was going through the feeds on Facebook then I came across an advertisement from DIGITAL MARKETING TRAINING INSTITUTE promoting their digital marketing training and the various courses they offer. The most interesting part was that it’s a scholarship program. I was so happy about it, and immediately registered. After a week, I was offered a scholarship, but I still questioned if I was making the right decision. I was curious about how the program would look since I had never enrolled in an online course before, and I didn't believe I could get the best from it. I asked myself so many questions: Would I be able to cope as an 8-4 worker, a mother with a toddler, and a wife? Would I gain perfect knowledge of the skill? This led me to surf the internet for more information about the institute and how the program works. I also received emails from DMSI with social proofs of past student testimonies and all the packages they would be offering. These emails actually gave me a second thought about it, and I was convinced enough to proceed and accept the offer. I commenced the lectures and was excited about the whole process. The pre-recorded sections were explanatory enough, and I felt like I was having eye contact with the coaches. I also loved the fact that there were touch points created for students to ask questions when they were stuck or needed information to explore in their career, such as Q/A sections on Zoom, career sections on Zoom, and community groups on Telegram. There is no way you will enroll in this program and not feel the impact. The course consists of different modules of 5-hour pre-recorded sections, and at the end of each module comes a project to test one's ability. The lecture periods are flexible enough that you can learn at your own pace. Although I came across lots of challenges such as balancing work, house chores, dedicating time for lectures, and carrying out projects, I'm glad I overcame those challenges through amazing coaches and community members. I have learned so much during the course of the training in social media management, such as various digital marketing tactics, in-depth knowledge of creation and management of business pages, running a successful ad campaign, various tools for content creation, and analytics tools, etc. I am glad about this milestone I have attained and want to use this medium to appreciate the whole team at DIGITAL MARKETING TRAINING INSTITUTE (DMSI), the founder Oluwatobi Asehinde (MEng) and the people behind the sponsorship of this program.
