Some Tips for Your CV Delete these from your CV. 1. Marital status 2. Your religion 3. Your hobbies. Nobody is going to shortlist your CV because you like traveling. Unless it is a travel agent job. 4. Non-professional email addresses. Ensure that your email address is professional and appropriate for job applications, mainly written correctly. 6. Long Paragraphs, instead use bullet points to present information in a clear and concise manner. 7. Irrelevant work experience. Example you are applying for accountant job and you indicate that you have been working as a sales executive of XYZ company . (Unless it's related to what you're applying for. Ex: Same field ) 8. Make sure to add your phone number number and preferable to add your LinkedIn account as well. Adding extra stuff just to make your CV longer can hurt your chances. Keep it short and to the point by only including what matters. (Unless it's related to what you're applying for. WHY YOU’RE NOT GETTING HIRED! 😭😫 Now, I will be realistic and spiritual… As you’re dropping those CVs, please be sprinkling the blood of Jesus and be in good faith. But the major thing now is, Does your cv make the cut? Most recruiters( I for one) won’t open some certain CVs, I delete immediately if it’s not fitting to the position I’m hiring for. During my Job search days, I’d apply from morning till evening on LinkedIn, WhatsApp, indeed, and job boards, I checked my Cv everyday to see what the issue was and even went as far as showing my fellow cooperate gurus to assist me cross check it and make sure it’s good to submit, I also paid at one point to a CV revamper to also have it checked! One time I submitted my cv for a role and when the hiring manager called me, she didn’t call for an interview but to point out errors that were on my cv and to work on it. It was sort of a harsh phone call but you know what I did, I penned all she wrote down, and implemented them immediately. NOT EVERYONE IS THIS KIND OR HAS THE TIME. So now, as a recruiter myself, here are a few errors I’ve noticed on CVs; - Cv in Word docx and not in PDF: Why in this age and time, as a cooperate person who’s job hunting have your Cv in word document. Your cv must be saved in both word and pdf format, word so you can always re-edit new roles, pdf to apply. Please take note and amend! - Your contact details missing from Cv- I was screening CVs for a role one time and I noticed at least 5 people didn’t have their contact details on their Cv, no phone number, no email address. Some would have phone number and no email but the most common is no phone number. (And the CV will be good, now you have to be looking for ways to reach candidates), sometimes I go through the stress of searching them on LinkedIn. So note! All your reachable contacts should be on your Cv, correct phone number and email. Lastly, - Name used in saving your CV- 😭😭😭 Some people are applying to jobs with “Cv” not their names o, Cv 😩😩 or Tolu Cv Finance, My Cv… these are not your names. Tolu Francis Cv, Akin omotade Cv and when applying, with the job title you’re applying to. You can also add a short note to email, and put your Cv. I go could go but my message is getting long and I believe my message has been passed! Let’s endeavor to amend and do better! That being said, HAPPY WEEKEND 🎉 #job #CV #employers #jobseekers
