About us
Since 2016, Street Child of Nigeria (SCoN) has responded to the North East emergency through targeted and holistic support to the most vulnerable people, providing children with protective community environments where they are safe, in school, and learning. SCoN delivers its programming with the support of more than 17 national partner organisations in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States. In Southern Nigeria, where poverty and underemployment drive thousands of people per year into situations of Trafficking in Persons (TiP), SCoN has worked with communities and local government stakeholders to build alternatives and resilience to trafficking in 3 Local Government Areas of Edo State. SCoN focuses support on Nigerian education and protection structures from the community to the national government level, to support the sustainability and longevity of our programmes long after the programme cycle has concluded. Programming centres on an integrated approach covering education, child protection, and livelihood support to ensure a holistic package of individual and family services that promote children’s enrolment, retention, and safety within formal and non-formal education.

🌱 Through our Education For Every Child Today (EFECT) project, in partnership with Education Above All Foundation (EAA)’s Educate a Child programme, we’ve trained over 7,800 caregivers in business skills and provided cash grants to support children’s education. Now, 92.5% of families can better afford school fees! Together, we’re driving sustainable change for communities and classrooms 📚 Learn more about EFECT, which aims to provide access to quality primary education for 96,000 children across Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia, in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/epw8Ct9d

As part of the EFECT project with Education Above All Foundation’s Educate a Child programme, Street Child of Nigeria held a four-day training for Community Volunteer Teachers (CVTs) on the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP) curriculum in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. The training equipped CVTs to deliver the government’s ABEP curriculum, designed to help out-of-school children catch up on missed education and reintegrate into formal schooling. This initiative supports EFECT's goal of providing quality primary education to 96,000 out-of-school children across Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. It also empowers CVTs to create inclusive learning environments that address academic and mental health needs, fostering resilience and better outcomes for children in conflict-affected communities. #StreetChildofNigeria #EducationAboveAll Street Child

The end of 16 days of activism campaign in 2024 is a new beginning for us all. Violence against women and girls is a violation of human rights. Let’s carry forward the momentum and ensure no one is left behind. Let’s keep advocating, challenging harmful norms, and creating safe spaces. Let’s be the change-makers our communities need. #StreetChildofNigeria #EndGenderBasedViolence #16DaysOfActivism

Brook Initiative joined the global community on 3rd December to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This annual observance aims to promote inclusivity, accessibility, and equality for individuals with disabilities. Our team marked this special day organised by Street Child Nigeria, with a disability awareness workshop, featuring our legal officer's insightful discussion on the Disability Act. Through this celebration, we reaffirmed our commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for everyone. We believe that every individual, regardless of their abilities, deserves equal opportunities and respect. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of promoting disability rights and inclusion. We are proud to have been a part of this global movement and look forward to continuing our efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all. #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities #Inclusion #Accessibility #DisabilityRights #EqualityForAll”
