On December 17, 2024, our dedicated team stationed at our Justice Hub in Ekiti State, carried out an impactful medical outreach at the Ado Ekiti Correctional Center. This event was part of our Wellness Behind Bars Initiative, aimed at improving the health and well-being of incarcerated individuals. The outreach covered a range of services, from general health assessments and treatment to legal consultations, empowering the inmates with knowledge of their rights and available legal pathways. This initiative would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors, whose donations helped fund the necessary medical supplies and logistics for the outreach. This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to addressing the health and legal disparities that exist within the prison system. Our team’s collective effort, along with the invaluable contributions of the medical and legal volunteers, has made a significant impact on the lives of the inmates, offering them not just physical care, but also a sense of hope and dignity. The Wellness Behind Bars Initiative remains a fundamental part of our work, and we are determined to extend these crucial services to more correctional facilities in the future, ensuring that justice and wellness are accessible to all. We are deeply grateful to our donors, whose generosity plays a vital role in making these transformative outreach programs possible. #PrisonMedicalOutreach #AccessToJustice #Prisonreform #headfortfoundationforjustice

Another key highlight of our "Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence" event was the insightful address by Mrs. Olukemi Adebo, the former Deputy Chief Registrar of the Ogun State Judiciary. She shared invaluable information about the legal provisions designed to protect and support survivors. In particular, she emphasized the availability of safe houses, established through the law, to ensure that survivors are kept out of harm's way throughout the legal process. Additionally, Mrs. Adebo highlighted the confidential nature of survivor testimonies, explaining how the judiciary prioritizes their safety by taking testimony discreetly, ensuring that survivors' identities and personal experiences are protected throughout the trial process. The panel’s discussion was a powerful reminder of the significant legal protections that exist for survivors of sexual violence. As part of our mission to advocate for survivors and strengthen legal frameworks, this event underscored our commitment to making justice not only a theoretical ideal but a tangible reality for all survivors. #Breakthesilence #Accesstojustice #justiceforsurvivorsofsexualabuse #Headfortfoundationforjustice

#Flashback to our “Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence” event in Abeokuta on November 30, 2024. One of the key highlights of the second panel session, moderated by Oluyemi Orija which focused on “Accessing Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence,” was the address by Inspector Olaide Rawlings, a representative from the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State. She educated the attendees on how survivors can report their cases to the police and navigate the reporting process effectively. She provided clear guidance on the reporting process and reassured the attendees that law enforcement is there to support them in their journey toward justice. This empowering session was a vital step in fostering a safer environment where survivors can confidently access the justice they deserve. #Breakthesilence #Accesstojustice #justiceforsurvivorsofsexualabuse #Headfortfoundationforjustice

We acknowledge the significant health challenges faced by individuals who are stuck behind bars, often due to limited access to healthcare and basic necessities. In response to this urgent need, we are proud to launch our Wellness Behind Bars initiative which will take place on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, at the Nigeria Correctional Center in Ado-Ekiti. This initiative is born from our deep commitment to justice, human dignity, and restorative care. By providing these individuals with access to proper medical treatment and necessary supplies, we aim to ensure that their rights are respected and their health is protected. If you are a medical practitioner, nurse, pharmacist, or anyone with expertise in healthcare, we invite you to volunteer for this meaningful cause.. Your involvement will help provide immediate relief to those who are behind bars and do not have access to healthcare, and together, we can offer them a chance at good health and well-being. Sexual violence remains one of the most underreported crimes, with many survivors facing societal, psychological, and legal barriers that discourage them from speaking out. By coming forward, individuals not only reclaim their power but also send a message to the society that these atrocities will not be ignored. Survivors should never feel alone in their journey; support, resources, and legal frameworks are available to ensure their experiences are heard and validated. Together, we can amplify survivors’ voices and make it clear that sexual violence will not be tolerated in any form. Every report matters, and every survivor deserves a chance to rebuild their life with dignity and hope for the future. #Breakthesilence #16daysofactivism #Accesstojustice #justiceforsurvivorsofsexualabuse #Headfortfoundationforjustice

During the first panel session focused on “Mental Health Support For Sexual Violence Survivors In The Pursuit Of Justice”, Mrs. Itunuoluwa Onifade, Development Psychologist at Arogi Trauma Care Foundation, educated attendees on the signs to look out for in children. Her insightful explanation focused on the profound impact that sexual violence can have on children and adolescents, urging the importance of recognizing early signs of trauma. This session underscored the critical need for a holistic approach to healing, where mental health support goes hand-in-hand with legal advocacy to ensure the well-being and dignity of survivors. The discussions reinforced that the path to justice is not just about legal outcomes, but also about safeguarding the mental health of the survivors throughout the process. #Breakthesilence #16daysofactivism #Accesstojustice #justiceforsurvivorsofsexualabuse #Headfortfoundationforjustice
