ORIGINAL: A tragic multi-vehicle crash on East Flamingo Road at the intersection with South Pecos-McLeod claimed the lives of two juveniles on Friday.

The crash happened around 5:13 p.m. when a 2014 Lexus GS350, traveling at a high rate of speed, ran a red light and struck a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander.

The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and redirected the Mitsubishi into a 2018 Honda Civic and a 2013 Cadillac SRX, which were stopped at the intersection.

Two juvenile occupants of the Mitsubishi sustained significant injuries and were transported to Sunrise Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased despite life-saving efforts. Two other juveniles in the Mitsubishi suffered minor injuries and were treated and released. The driver of the Mitsubishi also sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from UMC Hospital.

The driver of the Lexus fled the scene, leaving two occupants in the vehicle with critical injuries. The driver of the Cadillac sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention, while the driver of the Honda reported no injuries.

The deaths of the two juveniles mark the 136th and 137th traffic-related fatalities in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for 2024. The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section is investigating the incident.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
