MARKETING COORDINATOR

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for implementing, monitoring and measuring
the Department’s marketing and communications initiatives to include coordination of internal and
external communications to ensure messaging is engaging and delivered consistently to the public
and media.
Reports to the Superintendent of Special Events and Promotions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Designs and develops marketing and communications campaigns, collateral and content; advises and
supports the Department’s executive team on branding and marketing strategies.
Maintains and
updates presence on the Department’s website and external social media sites.
Using graphic design
techniques and tools, develops marketing materials to promote and publicize department programs
and events.
Develops, implements, evaluates, and maintains a comprehensive public relations plan for the
department.
Researches and provides market research data to assist in annual and strategic planning
to achieve department goals and objectives.
Researches, writes, proofs, and edits on both routine and
special projects.
Develops materials for presentations.
Provides media interviews for television and radio in support of department services and programs.
Develops, edits, and distributes communication tools for key stakeholders.
Responds to requests for
information from the public, various external organizations, and City departments.
Responsible for leading assigned staff including prioritizing and assigning work and related activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Marketing- Comprehensive knowledge of marketing principles, practices, advertising mediums,
and techniques.
Technology – Knowledge of current internet technologies and the modern methods and principles
of print, social media and Web production content.
Customer Service — Considerable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer
service.
This includes setting and meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of
customer satisfaction.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Judgment/Decision Making – Ability to use logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and
evaluate situations and exercise good judgment to make appropriate decisions.
Interpersonal Relationships – Develops and maintains cooperative and professional relationships
with employees and all levels of management to include representatives from other departments
and organizations.
Time Management - Plans and organizes daily work routine.
Estimates expected time of completion
of elements of work and establishes a personal schedule accordingly.
Implements work activities in
accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
REQUIRED ABILITIES
Communication- Ability to communicate ideas and proposals effectively so others will understand.
Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field and 3-5
years of directly related marketing or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
An acceptable general background investigation to include a local and state criminal history, sex
offender registry check, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks require the ability to exert mild, though not constant physical effort.
Some combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling,
crouching, crawling and/or pulling of objects and materials (10-15 pounds).
Tasks may involve extended periods of time at keyboard or work station.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such
as dust, pollen, temperature and weather extremes, traffic hazards, violent individuals, infectious
disease, or rude/irate customers while working on site at special events.
