FREE LEONARD PELTIER
Goal: Executive clemency for elder Leonard Peltier by way of President Joe Biden through advocacy and organizing efforts.
Activist Leonard Peltier is now in his 49th year of imprisonment. The injustice of his long incarceration has led the U.S. Attorney who handled the prosecution of his case, James Reynolds, to now plead for his release. In December of 2022, retired FBI Special Agent and former Minneapolis Division Counsel, Coleen Rowley also called for clemency – both noting the racism and oppressive treatment of Indians as an underlying factor in what is now widely recognized as a flawed prosecution, trial, and conviction of Peltier. In 2022, their voices were also joined by the UN’s Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. Read more about Leonard Peltier and this campaign here.
