“WOMEN OF HARMONY” (WOH) Starting 15 Jul 2024, Yayasan Gender Harmony (YGH) has launched the programme on WOMEN OF HARMONY. Women is hoped to be the Initiator on creating ‘harmony’ as given mandate from God for the “Suitable Helper” to men; where with spouse whom has another mandate from God for being the (Servant) Leader in Family; together to build: Peace and Harmony in Family life. [re: Genesis 2:18; Eph 5:21-33] Men and women have bn created differently (gender disparities) although they all are humans - both are suposed to be complement not to compete each other, or to conquer or making them similarity to each other! They have gender disparities - that need to be understood and working out for synergy towards family resilience and advancement Since beginning humans bn created - women were meant to be the helper to men; that’s why women become the Initiator. Thus as the pioneer, women must understand ‘leadership’ ~ mostly to hv ability for inisiative, understand family needs, practically be useful to give sources / spirits to others in family, able to mk decision as needed in various life aspects: social, culture, economy n politic. The women’s role as “Agent of CHANGE” - Women whom brought changes! Motherhood status is hoped to act as ‘umbrella’ for pushing: gender equality & equity; where reality existence of the “equal opportunity” [not meaning same volume/ No]- for women & men in the family advancement - so that they cd move on together in ‘gender transformation’ for a better living, healthy, harmonius n happy! Women Economy is part of initiative on WOH. As Economy alrd involved as the women arena since past time over centuries; in market, services n food consumption ; which unfortunately not being accompanied by higher skills. That’s why; GH proposed : *Women Empowerment is Family advancement toward Future investment*! <GH in practical has pushed forward the Gender Empowerment movement since 2012 during ICGem in Jakarta> Women economic has added the “discount rate” of women to minimize her dependency to men (husband). However over centuries men held the control to resources for economy. This must be changed accordingly in following GOd’s guidance for helping each other (Gal 6:2) “Dual Income Family” wd change positively the family power towards advancement. The location is not necessarily out of home - there are home industry, virtual office, online marketing and so on. Pandemic has proved it possible. The spouse relationship between husband n wife must be managed well within ‘gender partnership’ and within “human rights’ for respect, protection n fulfillment to both men n women equally n in equity! GH has tools that proved being useful to prevent gender based violence in family. Highlight of the Week. This week, I had the privilege of attending a Lepak Session with Mdm Zuraidah alongside my colleagues. Initially, the plan was to have a casual walk at East Coast Park as part of Saham Kesihatan at Yayasan MENDAKI, but the weather had other plans—it was gloomy and "not weathering". During the two-hour engagement, I got to know more about her life journey: from her humble beginnings to the leadership role she holds today. She also shared the values that have shaped her as a leader. My Personal Reflections: 1. Integrity: Always strive to complete any task well. If it’s your responsibility, see it through to the end. Don’t just pass it on with a “not my problem anymore” mindset. Own your work and ensure all checks and verifications are done before handing it over. 2. Speak Up Responsibly: Have the courage to voice your concerns and share ideas with your superior. Do so in a respectful and constructive manner, it’s important to communicate with clarity and care. 3. Learn to Say "Yes" to Assignments: When assigned a task, it’s not because your superior dislikes you or just needs someone to do it. It’s because they believe in your capability. Shift your mindset and take it as an opportunity to prove yourself. However, if you’re unable to take on the task, communicate openly about your constraints. I truly enjoy these fireside chats with leaders. Such candid and open conversations provide an opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow. While it can be daunting to engage directly with leadership, these sessions foster mutual respect and open-mindedness. Leaders understand that these discussions may invite constructive criticism or challenge ideas, but when both sides approach it respectfully, invaluable lessons emerge. 100 years of the Causeway The Johor-Singapore Causeway opened a century ago today! My state constituency of Perling is adjacent to the Causeway while the Second Link is located within my parliamentary constituency of Iskandar Puteri, keeping me constantly thinking about the future of economic activities and human stories between Malaysia and Singapore. On 9 May, my friend Dr Francis Hutchison of ISEAS-Yusof-Ishak Institute invited me to speak at a conference organised by Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore with the title “The Johor-Singapore Causeway: Celebrating and Conceptualizing its Centenary”. I was especially honoured to find that Professor Wang Gungwu, someone whom I have immense respect for, was seated in the audience at this fascinating event. In my speech, I shared my view that since taking office, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has put collaboration as the central feature of the Malaysia-Singapore relations, paving the way for initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone which is being negotiated now. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim is known for his support for closer ties between the two countries. Trust between the leadership is important. As far as economics is concerned, gone was the hyper-globalisation period when Singapore was the financial centre and China was almost the only consequential factory for the world. Post-Covid-19 with other geopolitical challenges, corporations are now looking for shorter and more secure supply chains. Collaborations between the two sides of the Causeway to ensure a safe and secure supply chain is what matters today. For seamless mobility, beyond the Causeway and the Second Link, as well as the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) that will be operational in 2027, more physical connections should be explored, such as ferries from Puteri Harbour and Forest City to Tuas, and other potential new linkages should be considered. In the long run, to make collaboration sustainable, it is the ordinary people on both sides of the Causeway that must benefit. More jobs at a much higher pay and more economic activities at a much higher level of complexity and sophistication must be created in Johor so that Malaysians will no longer have to work as cheap labour in Singapore.

IGIS Asset Management has signed an MOU with Shinsegae Property to attract Starfield Village to the lower floors (second level basement to 1st floor) of Sindorim D Cube City. Starfield Village is an urban shopping mall from Shinsegae Property that is being developed using its experience operating Starfield malls. The format differs from the larger Starfield malls as it is a more compact mall suitable for highly dense urban areas. The goal is to create a retail facility that builds community and coexists with other retail facilities in the local business area. The shopping mall will be constructed with a total floor area of 52,528㎡, spanning from the second basement level to the ground floor. RESOLUTION BY CABINET TO RESTORE STATEHOOD Statehood cannot be restored through resolutions alone. Dialogue and cooperation between local and central leadership are essential to addressing the issue in a meaningful and sustainable way that accommodates the concerns of all stakeholders. Only through such an understanding can the region hope to see the restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir. LEGAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL LIMITATIONS: Despite its symbolic and political significance, the resolution passed by the J&K Cabinet has clear legal and constitutional limitations. In India’s federal system, the power to grant or restore statehood lies with the central government, not regional governments. The bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into Union Territories was carried out through a constitutional amendment and a parliamentary act, and any reversal of this decision would require similar legislative action. As such, the resolution has no direct legal force—it cannot compel the central government to restore statehood, nor does it have the authority to reverse the constitutional changes made in 2019. The resolution can only serve as a recommendation or formal request to the central government, which may or may not act on it. However, this does not mean the resolution is without value. While it lacks legal power, it can still play an important role in shaping public opinion, influencing political discourse, and applying pressure on the central government to take action. In this sense, the resolution is a valuable tool for keeping the issue of statehood alive and pushing for political change. #restorestatehood

People’s Income Initiative as a Key to Eradicating Poverty by the Madani Government On 4th October 2024, Batu Gajah Parliament became the focal point when the Batu Gajah Service Centre organized a briefing session aimed at enhancing economic opportunities under an income-generating initiative for all participants from Batu Gajah. Held at APBM Batu Gajah, the program also introduced the People’s Income Initiative (IPR), a strategic step by the Madani Government to eradicate poverty and improve the living standards of the B40 and hardcore poor groups. Attended by various stakeholders – from officers of the Parliamentary and State Service Centres, JPKK committee members, KRT, Resident Associations, to Visiting Board Members – this session marked a new chapter in the effort to uplift the local community's livelihood. Three Key Initiatives to Eradicate Poverty: 1. Eradication of Hardcore Poverty (BMT) Target: Households with incomes below RM312 (PGK) Assistance: Grants to purchase business tools and raw materials Goal: Increase monthly income and help households move out of the hardcore poverty category 2. Agripreneur Initiative (INTAN) Program: Training for chili cultivation on a 20-acre farm in Tambun Duration: 3-5 years to develop successful agripreneurs 3. Food Entrepreneur Initiative (INSAN) Focus: Promoting vending machine operators in companies, agency premises, LRT stations, schools, and hospitals The briefing emphasized the vital role of community leaders present as mentors and scouts for eligible candidates to participate in these initiatives. The first step for those interested is to register household information under the e-Kasih system through the Penghulu’s office. Through this initiative, the Madani Government once again demonstrates its commitment to uplifting the local community, especially those who are often marginalized. With this collaborative effort, Batu Gajah is moving towards a brighter future where every resident has the opportunity to transform their lives.

[ Complaints abt secondhand smoke from neighbours ] Still following up and still speaking up because secondhand smoke kills! In parliament, I asked for each year in the past three years, what is the (i) number of feedback (ii) percentage of feedback submitted through NEA's online feedback form on second-hand tobacco smoke from neighbours and whether NEA will consider if feedback on second-hand tobacco smoke from neighbours warrants a specific category in the form. Minister shared, "There has been a declining trend in feedback on second-hand tobacco smoke from neighbours received by the NEA through its online feedback system. NEA received 900 instances of feedback in 2021, 260 instances in 2022, and 120 instances in 2023. These form 2.6%, 1.2%, and 0.6% of annual total feedback received via the platform. NEA’s online feedback system is intended for the public to provide information on issues regulated by NEA, such as littering, smoking in prohibited places and mosquito breeding. There is a general category for feedback on other environmental issues. There are no plans to create an additional category for second-hand tobacco smoke from neighbours." The state of our city reflects the collective habits of everyone who lives in it. We can’t blame the city council for everything when we, as individuals, are contributing to the problem by carelessly discarding waste. Imagine munthu akudya mandasi, n'kungotaya kajumbo kaja m’mseu. Now imagine 100 more people doing the same—our city would be filled with timajumboto. This behavior is not just from those who may not know better, but even from esteemed intellectuals, kuzolowera uve. It’s high time we change our mindset and start taking responsibility for our actions. Tikayeni zinyalala ku bin, then when we’ve done our part, we can demand the city council to improve their efforts. Until we change our habits, we are just as much a part of the problem as anyone else. Let’s take the lead in creating a cleaner and healthier city, one small action at a time!

Countless reports have highlighted the staggering extent of food wastage, whether it's at home or in businesses. Every Ramadan, we witness a 15-20% surge in this wasteful trend. In 2023, a report from SWCorp stated that Kuala Lumpur alone disposed of a massive 64,125.85 tons of rubbish. A substantial portion of that—22,732.61 tons—was food waste. This isn't just a waste of resources; it's also costing us billions of Ringgit. Did you know that households are responsible for the largest portion of all food waste? Major contributors to household food waste include food spoilage, over-preparing, date label confusion, overbuying, and poor planning. Therefore, it's important for all of us to shop smarter and waste less. Here are some simple tips to help cut down on food waste: 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠: • Check what you already have at home before you go shopping to avoid buying things you don't need. • Don't shop when you're hungry, or you might buy things you don't really want. • Plan your meals and make a list before you go shopping. You could even plan a night to eat leftovers to use up food. 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞: • Keep your fresh food where you can see it, and store it in clear containers so it's easy to find. • Use the right containers to help your food stay fresh for longer. • Eat the food that will go bad soonest, and learn which fruits and veggies should be kept in the fridge or out of it. • Freeze food to save it for later. Surprisingly, lots of food can be frozen, like nuts, fruits, veggies, herbs, and dairy products. 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: • Try composting to turn your food scraps and other organic waste into useful soil. Even if you don't have help from your trash collector, you can compost at home with the right setup. • You can compost lots of things, like fruits, eggshells, coffee grounds, and garden waste, to make soil and reduce waste. Always Finish What You Started. It's been weeks since National YouthSpeak Forum 2024 (NYSF 2024) has ended, brings me chills thinking about it. NYSF was very new to me, I thought of trying something I've never worked on. I was the Organizing Committee External Resources (ER) of NYSF 2024, so never in my life pitched to companies to form partnerships, all the while I've only done marketing. How did I handled? Well um... "Learning" isn't just about from books and googling, it's about having guidance and try as much as I can. From a bumpy start to a chaotic ending, my top 3 learnings were researching companies' value proposition, quick pitching to stakeholders and most importantly managing crisis, despite I was on remote till the end of NYSF. Nonetheless, it was great to network with people from various field and share the YouthSpeak Forum values that we wish they could contribute to make NYSF an impactful event for the youths. With that, I would like to thank Prestine Davekhaw and Cyberview Sdn Bhd for panelling in the Leadership Reimagined in Multidisciplinary Workforce, OTSATE and Zubedy (M) Sdn Bhd for the gifts sponsors. NYSF made me realized that it is barely possible for me to work alone without collaboration to make the changes I wish to. This roots back to my favorite AIESEC value, Living Diversity, whereby it takes everyone with various talent to work together for a change. The end of NYSF marks another start of my AIESEC journey to inspire more youths around the world contributing for YouthSpeak Forum or EngageWithAIESEC (EwA). Anxiety can take many forms, and one of them is 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒙𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚. Did I believe it existed? Not at first. My journey began 15 years ago when I was 25, with just RM5k in my bank account and a laptop as my only companion. I launched my PR agency with no clients and no background in the field. Was it terrifying? Absolutely. I was overwhelmed with fear—fear of running out of resources, of not finding clients, of rejection. Would it mean I was a failure? The uncertainties were countless. But deep down, I knew I couldn’t give up. So, I took time to reflect and understand the roots of my fears. I focused on what I could control and learned to accept what I couldn’t. I started meditating, prioritising my goals, and adapting to the changes life threw at me, just like the pandemic. I took things one step at a time, at my own pace. And no matter how small the victories, I celebrated each one with gratitude. Remember to stay motivated and celebrate your progress. No matter how small, every step forward is a win.
