  • MATRADE participated in a promotional program for the International Healthcare Week (IHW) 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The program aimed to attract potential exhibitors, government entities, and industry associations to IHW 2025, which will be held in Malaysia in July 2025. During the 3-day promotional event, MATRADE engaged with key Saudi government bodies and industry leaders, including The Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT), Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), and Bassam Trading Co. Discussions focused on the potential of the Southeast Asian market and Malaysia’s strategic position as a gateway to the region. Saudi representatives expressed interest in fostering stronger collaborations with Malaysian businesses and endorsed IHW 2025, pledging support by inviting relevant Saudi companies to participate.   • En Abu Bakar Yusof, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (EA) has attended the Welcoming Reception Dinner, hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) on 17 December 2024, at The Gallery, MITEC. The reception dinner is to welcome the delegates from China EV100, who have hosted the Malaysia-China EV Forum, as part of the Malaysia-China Summit 2024 (MCS 2024). This distinguished occasion is graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, YBhg. Dato’ Hairil Yahri Yaacob, Secretary General of MITI. Among the esteemed VIPs attending are H.E. Dato’ Norman Muhamad, the Ambassador of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and a delegation from China EV100, led by Mr. Liu Xiaoshi, the Executive Deputy Secretary-General of China EV100. The delegation also includes representatives from prominent Chinese companies in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, reflecting the growing collaboration between Malaysia and China in advancing sustainable mobility solutions. EV100, founded on May 5, 2014, is a leading platform bringing together key stakeholders from the government, academia, and industry to advance the development of electric vehicles (EVs) and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). By transcending barriers across industries, disciplines, ownership structures and departments, EV100 serves as a collaborative space for research and dialogue to drive cross- sector integration and innovation. The Malaysia-China EV Forum is designed for a diverse audience, including automotive industry professionals, policymakers, researchers, EV infrastructure developers, and environmental advocates.   • MATRADE and Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance trade promotion efforts. DMDI is an organisation that aims to unite Malay Muslims worldwide and serve as a platform for discussing shared interests across diverse fields, including education, economy, culture, society, science, and technology. The exchange ceremony was witnessed by TYT Tun Seri Setia Dr. Hj Mohd Ali Rustam, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka. MATRADE was represented by YBrs. Mr Abu Bakar Yusof, Deputy CEO of MATRADE, and DMDI was represented by its Econonic Bureau Chairperson, Adj Professor Datin Seri Azreen Binti Abu Noh. The MoU aims to foster closer collaboration in undertaking promotional activities and exchange of information. It also focuses on enhancing market access and capacity-building through joint training, workshops, and seminars to equip SMEs with the skills needed to succeed internationally.   • Trade in November 2024 expanded by 2.9% (RM237.85 billion), marking the 11th successive month of y-o-y growth. Exports increased for the second consecutive month, expanding by 4.1% (RM126.57 billion), while imports rose 1.6% (RM111.28 billion). Trade surplus rebounded by 26.3% (RM15.29 billion), the highest recorded in 14 months since October 2023, denoting the 55th consecutive month of surplus. #MATRADE
