Essential Albums
- Known as one of Latin America’s most prolific pop producers and songwriters, Mexico’s Aleks Syntek lets his artistry blossom on Mundo Lite. A boisterous collection of catchy, feel-good tunes, the LP stands out for its effervescent electronic flourishes and gleeful, steel-stringed guitar rhythms. On the melodious duet “Duele el Amor”, Syntek’s countertenor pairs wonderfully alongside the pixie-voiced Ana Torroja of Spanish group Mecano, while the piano-laced “Te Soñé” is a delightful ballad about a dream woman.

About Aleks Syntek
Mexican artist Aleks Syntek has been involved in many different projects such as advertisements, TV shows, and movies. By the late '80s, Syntek, along with two friends, formed an alternative band. Their first record, called Hey Tú, was released by EMI in 1990, followed by Más Fuerte de Lo Que Pensaba in 1993. Later, Aleks Syntek y la Gente Normal started touring Latin America while their songs were climbing on the most important charts in Chile, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Argentina. In 1995, Bienvenido a la Vida was released, followed by 1997's Lugar Secreto, produced by Rodolfo Cruz and Michael Rojkind. In 1999, Syntek produced the soundtrack to Sexo, Pudor y Lágrimas. ~ Drago Bonacich
