The CIEL Annual Symposium 2024 brought together our leaders to celebrate achievements and share our ambition for the future. This year’s theme was ‘Excellence at Core’, reflecting one of the Group’s core values. A key moment was the unveiling of CIEL’s new business principles by our Group Chief Executive, Guillaume Dalais, which are designed to guide the way we do business and ensure we always do things the right way. We were also inspired by keynote speaker Professor David V. Gioe, Ph.D., a British Academy Global Professor at King’s College London and former intelligence officer, who shared insights on the importance of strategic foresight and teamwork in the pursuit of excellence. 🎥 Here are some highlights from the event. #CIELGroup #CIELAnnualSymposium #ExcellenceAtCore

CIEL Finance has made strategic investments in two promising fintech start-ups in Uganda: FutureLink Technologies and Flow Global Limited. This move establishes the presence of CIEL Finance in Africa’s fintech landscape and aligns with its goal of supporting financial inclusion and sustainable growth in emerging markets. FutureLink Technologies, headquartered in Uganda and expanding into Zambia, is a 2-sided marketplace platform that enables the unbanked and under-served to access more relevant and affordable financial services provided by a growing network of financial cooperatives. The cooperatives themselves are able to acquire and retain customers, access affordable financing, grow transaction revenue, and reduce infrastructure costs by 90%. FutureLink Technologies is the first African Winner of the Platinum Product Innovation of the Year 2022 from the Global SME Finance Forum, organised by IFC World Bank. Flow Global, is an award-winning fintech operating in Uganda, Rwanda, and Madagascar, specialising in providing digital loans to small retail merchants. This support helps businesses significantly grow their income and strengthen their financial resilience. With its technology team in India and headquarters in the UK, Flow Global won the “FinTech for Good” category at the London FinTech Awards 2023, reflecting its successful blend of innovation, financial returns, and social impact. Flow is also recognised amongst the top 50 global fastest growing technology firms by Deloitte. “These investments support our strategy to boost our portfolio of investments with a clear focus on financial services digital solutions. These companies are closing gaps for access to financial services and driving innovation in underserved markets. We are confident of delivering long-term value for both the financial sector as well as the communities we support in those countries,” shares Lakshman Bheenick, CEO of CIEL Finance. We look forward to collaborating with these companies to contribute to a more inclusive future for all. #CIELGroup #TechForGood #Fintech #FinancialInclusion #SustainableFinance

CIEL Group maintains a solid performance with key capital investments Here are some key highlights: 🔹 CIEL Group focused on growth through investments in key projects, including the renovation of Shangri-La Le Touessrok and increasing its stake in C-Care International Limited from 53.03% to 63.47%. 🔹 The Group delivered a strong performance, with revenue for the period reaching MUR 8.8 bn, consistent with CIEL’s expectations and driven by strong contributions from the Finance and Healthcare clusters. 🔹 EBITDA stood at MUR 1.5 bn in line with the prior period, despite the temporary closure of the Shangri-La Le Touessrok Hotel for renovation. The proactive operational efficiencies across the portfolio mitigated inflationary and wage pressures. 🔹 Free Cash Flow amounted to MUR 451M reflecting the capital expenditure program in the Hotels & Resorts and Healthcare clusters and higher working capital requirements from the Textile cluster, both in alignment with our growth strategy. Commenting on the results, Jerome De Chasteauneuf, Group Finance Director of CIEL Limited said: “As CIEL navigates the complexities of the global economy, adhering to a disciplined and efficient capital investment program will be essential for achieving sustained financial performance and creating value for our stakeholders. Embracing this philosophy will not only drive long-term earnings growth but also position the Group to thrive in an ever-changing business landscape.” #CIELGroup
