Cnámha really neat lil release, almost like someone decided to make power metal palatable to me. nice triumphant melodies and beautifully detailed percussion. The Agalloch cover sounds like it could have been recorded by Lifelover or something! Favorite track: From Spaulder to Greave.

skullandsword_sky In this release, Morke has managed to capture the castle metal genre perfectly, and I can’t wait to see where they take this new sound in the future! All hail Castle metal! All hail Morke!!!

messlife I think these songs are such a great shift for Morke and I’m only upset that it’s a couple songs. These flow so well and I can’t wait for a full length. Queer castle metal for always 💞

Skvm Cadaverous The return of Morke is not to be taken lightly. Weary traveler, take this time to bathe in the resplendent beauty of it's melodies and harmonies. Brilliant and gleaming castle metal awaits you.
West Maddox

West Maddox Thoroughly impressive castle metal sound with layers of beautiful melodies. A full length will be a legendary classic, I can't wait to hear more of this! Also, as someone who has listened to Agalloch's Falling Snow HUNDREDS of times, this is a flawless cover! The clean singing is fantastic as well. It definitely gives me the same vibes as the original. Eric and CJ absolutely nailed it! Favorite track: From Spaulder to Greave.

Misericorde 03:14
Springtide crashing over the fields Flora and fauna commiserating My heart open and contented Shimmering rivers flow ethereal Misericorde forged in steel and love Reflecting the sun's bountiful rays
2.
On this silent morn My oaken door Welcomes the rising sun Daylight breaking forth The wind blows My falchion shimmers Evermore My quixotic desire Carried by vernal streams My psaltery rings Echoing my dreams As I gaze to the west From my destrier, weary Sunbeams pierce my cataphract From spaulder to greave
3.
The water pours its embracing arms around the stone Decay drips from the unquiet void Where the ice forms, where life ends The stone is by the crimson flood, swallowed The red tide beyond the ebon wound, contorted My sacrifice bids farewell in this river of memory A wave to end all time Red birds escape from my wounds And return as falling snow To sweep the landscape A wind haunted Wings without bodies The snow, the bitter snowfall You wish to die in her pale arms, crystalline To become an ode to silence In the soul of a mountain of birds, fallen The cascading pallor of ghostless feather The snow has fallen And raised this white mountain on which you will die And fade away in silence

about

After three years of waiting, I finally have new music to share with you.

To preface, my sound is no longer strictly atmospheric black metal; I've moved on to fly the banner of castle metal. Fans of Obsequiae and Weald & Woe will recognize the style pretty quickly.

I come bearing two new songs in the form of Misericorde and From Spaulder to Greave, through which I intend to paint a picture of a fantastical realm free from the grasp of the harshness of reality - a land of escapism, as it were. I feel that we all have dealt with more than enough in these past several years, so to weave a sonic tapestry that provides even a semblance of solace to anyone is a cause worth pursuing to me.

Following these tracks is a cover of Agalloch's "Falling Snow." This song entered my life at a time of deep uncertainty, fear, and anger, so I feel my performance of it here should reflect that - almost expelling those feelings in a way. This recording is also a sort of "goodbye" to the previous Morke sound, as it will be the last song to contain any recordings from my setup at my parents' house prior to me moving out in early 2023.

I would also like to shine a light on my dear friend CJ Yacoub, who has provided drums for this recording. Put simply, CJ is one of the best drummers I've ever heard, and at only 22 years old they are destined for greatness. To be a small part of their history is an honor and a privilege, and I am eternally grateful for their contributions to this release and the next Morke full-length that is in the works.

In short, this has been a long time coming and I thank all who support and listen for their patience. It does not go unnoticed. With that, I present to you Forged in Steel and Love, a signifier of a new chapter for Morke and my pivot to a musical direction that reflects my more peaceful internal state. Remember that you are loved and things will get better. We are the river.

Physicals will be available through Fiadh Productions on the day of digital release, October 4th.
