The London Eye, the Natural History Museum, St Paul’s, the Shard and Madame Tussauds are always at the top of the list to tick off when it comes to sightseeing in London.
As such, you’d assume that the most frequented attraction in the capital is probably one of these.
Well, it seems this isn’t the case. In fact, you’ve probably never heard of the ‘most visited’ attraction in town.
So, where is this tourist hotspot and when can you visit?
Here is what you need to know.
What is London’s most-visited tourist attraction?
The Outernet – an ‘immersive entertainment district’ made up of two venues – has taken the title of London’s most-visited tourist attraction.
It’s located right next to Tottenham Court Road station (head south towards Denmark street) and has welcomed 6.25 million visitors since it opened in November 2022 – that’s more than the Natural History Museum’s 4.7 million visitors last year.
Pretty impressive, considering the attraction has been open for just over a year.
For those not clued-up, the attraction brings together music, art and culture for the whole family from 10am to late every day – and it’s completely free.
Opening times for Outernet:
Monday – Thursday: 10am – 11:30pm
Friday – Sunday: 10am – midnight
Its centrepiece, The Now Building, features 23,000 sq ft of giant wraparound screens that showcase all kinds of creative programming, guaranteed to tantalise your senses – with one recent Tripadvisor reviewer, called Jo E, calling it ‘spellbinding’.
Meanwhile, the sister building, HERE at Outernet, is a 2000-capacity underground venue that hosts live music and DJ events.

However, others have noted the main attraction is over quite quickly – with another reviewer adding that it was ‘a cute but short experience.’
Philip O’Ferrall, president and chief executive of Outernet, said: ‘In just one year we are so thrilled to have reached this record level of visitor numbers. Outernet was and remains something that is new and boundary-pushing, and with that comes both great excitement and risk.
