Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game as Manchester United interim boss was a comfortable 3-0 victory against Leicester City at Old Trafford.
United remain undefeated since the sacking of Erik ten Hag, with stunning strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho helping the Red Devils defeat the Foxes.
The game lacked the chaos of the 5-2 between the two sides in the Carabao Cup a fortnight ago, with Fernandes opening the scoring with a powerful effort on his 250th appearance for the club.
Leicester rallied but received a sucker punch just before the break when the ball found the back of the net again thanks to the unfortunate Victor Kristiansen, before substitute Garnacho curled in a wonder goal in the final few minutes.
Ruben Amorim will officially take the reins on Monday with plenty waiting for the Portuguese in his in-tray – including whether to keep van Nistelrooy on as part of his staff.

Thank you and goodbye!
And with that our live coverage of Man Utd vs Leicester is over.
There’s more Premier League action this evening however, as Chelsea host Arsenal in a huge London derby.
‘Garnacho didn’t celebrate like he should’
More from Fernandes, who reveals Garnacho ‘thinks he has lost faith from some fans’.
‘Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.
‘I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games.
‘We want them to score every game but that isn’t going to happen.’
‘A new era!’ – Fernandes
Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes gives his reaction: ‘It was a long time that I wasn’t scoring and now goals are coming in the last few games.
‘Another clean sheet was important for us to bring back the fortress we had here. We have to keep doing that and we have to improve.
‘Ruud van Nistelrooy loves the club, he wants to bring joy to the players. He brought everyone with a smile to the games, he just wanted us to enjoy it.
‘We wanted to say goodbye as a manager for him properly because he did good things for us.
‘It’s a new era, a new manager means everything changes but what hasn’t changed is that this club has to get back to where it belongs.’
Around the grounds
Elsewhere, Newcastle turned things around at the City Ground to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1.
Ipswich held on to defeat Tottenham 2-1 and claim their first Premier League win since 2002. A moment of history.
RUUUUUUUDDDDD
United fans serenade their former player turned interim manager and the Dutchman is all smiles.
Whether he stays or goes, they’ll look back very fondly on his brief stint at the wheel.
The result moves United up to 13th, level on points with Bournemouth but behind on goals scored. Leicester remain 15th.
