This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Coronation Street have confirmed their seventh suspect in Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) murder, and it is none other than DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

Last week, Kit sparked suspicion when he removed his own details from a spreadsheet of potential suspects, after DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) suggested that her case may be connected to Joel’s murder.

Lisa was dealing with the damage of a car, which just happened to have occurred on the night of Joel’s murder, yards away from his flat.

With the owner of the vehicle having reported hearing an argument that night, and the damage having been caused by a red car, Lisa told Kit that she suspected the driver of the red car may have been involved.

Though tonight’s episode saw Kit tell Lisa that the red car lead was a dead end, she was later proven to be correct – and Kit was far more involved than he’d let on.

In a flashback, Kit was seen spotting an injured Joel on the side of the road, with the distraction causing him to swerve into the parked car.

He then got out and confronted Joel, who made it clear that he knew Kit had planted evidence on Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper). Could Kit have killed Joel to keep him quiet?

With Kit leading the investigation into Joel’s murder, it puts him in the ideal position to cover his own tracks, and tonight’s episode saw him find a scapegoat to pin the crime on.

After finding a suspicious text drafted to Joel on Lisa’s phone, he called her to the station for formal questioning and demanded to know her whereabouts on the night of Joel’s murder.

Though Lisa insisted she was at the hospital, having been hit by a car earlier that evening, Kit pointed out that she had been discharged before Joel sent his final voicemail, meaning she didn’t have an alibi.

Later, when Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) quizzed Kit on the case, he told her that he had interviewed a suspect that he believed was guilty, and that he would prove it.

Is Lisa really the culprit behind Joel’s murder, or is Kit just covering his own tracks? Could he be set to frame her for his crime?
