Trigger warning: This article contains discussion of child sexual abuse.
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (October 30) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) was left reeling when Frankie Osborne (Isabelle Smith) leaned in for a kiss, just moments after she confessed her love for him.
Frankie, as viewers know, has had a lot to deal with over the past year, with twin brother JJ (Ryan Mulvey) sexually abusing her.
The ordeal came to light when Frankie bravely confided in dad Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson), who disowned JJ and vowed to support his daughter in her pursuit of justice.
JJ, however, collapsed at court and was diagnosed with leukaemia, with Darren struggling to stay away as he paid the abuser a visit and got tested for a bone marrow transplant to see if he was a match.
Darren, however, was not, which left Frankie having to decide if she would get tested and potentially save her abuser’s life. JJ confessed to the abuse earlier this week and recorded a confession too, just moments before he flatlined.
Frankie struggled to process everything, admitting that she doesn’t want JJ to die and thus she will get tested to see if she’s a match. The whole situation has taken its toll on her though, with Wednesday’s (October 30) edition of the Channel 4 soap seeing her take to the booze.
Nancy (Jessica Fox) was called to take a very drunk Frankie home, with Lucas offering assistance as he helped the deputy head teacher carry his best friend back home to Basswood Road.
Frankie was grateful for Lucas’ support, telling him that she feels safe in his presence as he wrapped his arms around her.
Frankie told Lucas that she loves him – and Lucas smiled, saying it back. He meant it platonically but it seems Frankie meant it romantically as she reiterated her love for him, leaning in for a kiss.
Lucas pulled back, confused by the whole situation.
The teen, as viewers know, is gay and was previously in a relationship with Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass). Earlier this month, Frankie discovered that Dillon cheated on Lucas with his own sister, who subsequently gave birth to his baby.
Frankie ordered Dillon to come clean to Lucas. Dillon, however, resolved to break up with him instead, breaking Lucas’ heart.
