Roman Kemp may be one of the most well-liked hosts on radio, but while he can charm many celebrities, he failed to impress one high-profile actor.
The former Capital FM star, 31, who now hosts BBC One’s The One Show, has opened up about the moment an interview with a well-known James Bond star went terribly wrong and resulted in him almost crying.
007 has been played by multiple stars over the years including Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, and more recently Daniel Craig, however, the star retired from the role in 2021.
It has yet to be announced who will take over the role of the British secret agent, but recent industry rumours have placed Aaron Taylor Johnson and Theo James as frontrunners.
While fans of the much-loved franchise await answers, Kemp has taken a trip down memory lane, sharing his ‘terrifying’ experience with a past actor who starred in the films.
Sitting down with Peter Crouch for an episode of his Therapy Crouch podcast, Kemp dubbed the interview with the actor one of his worst, admitting: ‘One person nearly made me cry. I was only young and it was for James Bond.’
Unfortunately for curious listeners, it’s unclear exactly who the actor was, as their name was bleeped out. The only few clues are that he starred in the franchise, had a German-Austrian accent and is known to be ‘terrifying in his films’ meaning it may not be a James Bond at all, but perhaps a villain.
‘He is like that in real life and I sat there and I asked him this question, and it wasn’t even a bad question, and then he sat and he thought,’ Kemp added.
‘And then he just went, “Okay. For the rest of this interview, I’m going to ask myself the questions that I believe that I should be asked.”‘ Kemp recalled. ‘I was silent for the whole time.’
Taking to TikTok, fans were quick to theorise who Kemp was talking about. JamieGardner1988 guessed: ‘Javier Bardem’, who starred as Raoul Silva in the 2012 film, Skyfall.

Other comments saw fans guessing it was Mads Mikkelson who played Le Chiffre in the 2006 film Casino Royale, however there was one actor who came up significantly more than the rest, Christoph Waltz.
Amyd2921 wrote: ‘Obviously Christoph Waltz’. Another user agreed, adding: ‘Bet it was Christoph Waltz. He definitely gives that sort of energy.’ earning over 100 likes on the comment.
Rhiannon Grace said: ‘Has to be CW.’
Austrian-German actor Waltz starred in two of the Bond films, Spectre and No Time To Die, as the iconic villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Other films he has starred in throughout his career include Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained.
Kemp has not made any comment on fan speculation.
