Daniel Brocklebank is enjoying a well-deserved break following his devastating Coronation Street storyline.

Over the past year, Daniel has been at the centre of a plot involving his character Billy Mayhew and his partner Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease shortly after a road collision. Since then, the audience of the ITV soap have watched a heartbreaking journey as Paul’s MND slowly consumed him.

Earlier this month, Paul’s life sadly came to an end. In the powerful episode, Billy set off out of Weatherfield to search for his phone after losing it on a night out. With Paul under Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and Summer’s (Harriet Bibby) care, disaster struck when they realised Paul was unresponsive.

They raced to the hospital and at the same time, desperately tried to get hold of Billy. Once this happened, Billy ran to the hospital hoping to see Paul for one final moment.

Over on his Instagram, the star has been sharing snaps of his break from the cobbles, and confirming he’s enjoying some Caribbean sun…and we’re not jealous at all.

Sharing a selfie in front of some beautiful greenery, Daniel wrote alongside: ‘It appears that I’ve awoken in the Caribbean!!! Bring on the relax, sunshine and much needed sleep!.’

Co-star and close friend Peter Ash wrote in the comments: ‘Looks amazing! Enjoy your well-deserved rest, buddy!😎’ while Dan’s boyfriend Jordan Coulthard said: ‘You deserve this so much babe. Have the best time! ❤️’.

‘We’d been building up to this moment for 18 months, as actors, so to put that final block in was like, “We’re here.” It felt so far ahead in the future when we were first initially pitched the storyline’ Daniel recently told us, discussing Paul’s final scenes.

‘So for us as characters it was harrowing, but for us as actors, we shot everything pretty much chronologically. So the scene where Billy arrives and holds on to Paul, who’s obviously already passed, was Pete’s last scene.

‘We knew that when that moment happened, Pete was going to be leaving.’
