Zayn Malik has announced that he is set to go on his first-ever solo tour – 9 years after he left One Direction.
The singer revealed on social media that he will be going on tour in just 35 days, marking the first time he’s toured since he was in the iconic X-Factor formed boyband.
The six-date UK tour will commence in the UK in Edinburgh on November 20, with stops in Leeds, Manchester, London, and Wolverhampton, before concluding on December 3 in Newcastle.
The tour will also stretch into the US, kicking off on October 25 for five dates across major cities.
The announcement is hugely exciting – but there’s a major catch as the singer is only performing at intimate small venues across the UK.
This means fans will be fighting for less than 20,000 UK tickets for what is set to be a hugely sought-after, and long-awaited tour.
Capacity at Zayn Malik's concert venues
O2 Academy in Edinburgh – 3,000
O2 Academy in Leeds – 2,300
O2 Apollo in Manchester – 3,500
Eventim Apollo in London – 5,300 (partially standing) or 3,341 (seated)
Wolverhampton The Halls – 3,400
O2 City Hall in Newcastle – 2,135
Since leaving the boyband One Direction in 2015, the singer has released four solo albums titled: Mind of Mine (2016), Icarus Falls (2018), Nobody is Listening (2021), and Room Under the Stairs (2024).
His first album was a huge success and included tracks such as Pillowtalk, Like I Would, and Wrong featuring Kehlani.
Following the success of this debut album the artist was scheduled to perform at several promotional events.
However, he cancelled his gig at the Capital Summertime Ball. He apologised to fans and blamed his ‘anxiety’. He then cancelled other promotional appearances and performances as he continued to struggle with the ‘worst anxiety of his career.’
The post read: ‘To all those people who have been waiting to see me perform at the Capital Summertime Ball today. I flew into the UK last night to appear in my home country in front of my family, friends and, most importantly, my UK fans.
‘Unfortunately, anxiety, which has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has got the better of me… with the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.
‘I cannot apologize enough, but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me. I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today.
‘I know those who suffer from anxiety will understand, and I hope those who don’t can empathize with my situation.’
The 31-year-old crashed Jimmy Fallon’s talk show for the second time in six months last night to announce his tour.
The host was ‘shocked’ as last night Zayn approached the host with a mug and a note.
‘Zayn! Wait Zayn?’ said Jimmy feigning surprise.
The singer then put on one of his new tunes, danced a little, handed Jimmy the note, and exited the stage.
Sorry, this video is no longer available.
Reading the note Jimmy said in a very poor English accent: ‘Hey Jimmy, great to see you mate. I’m going on me first-ever solo tour this autumn.
‘So maybe when you’re done picking apples with ya buds you can come check out my Stairway to the Sky tour across the US and UK.
‘I’m making an official announcement tomorrow morning, let me know what date you wanna come.’
Zayn previously pulled off a similar stunt when he appeared on the show in March to hand Jimmy a note announcing his then-new single What I Am.
Since his initial success he has yet to announce a tour, so this brand new tour will be huge news for fans who have eagerly followed his solo career for the past nine years.
Following his television announcement fans took to social media to share their excitement.
‘THE WAIT IS OVER!!’ commented Milys_mind on the video from The Tonight Show.
‘I’m crying like after so many years, we’re finally gonna get a zayn tour,’ said AmeeraKane.
Omg I thought this day would never come,’ said Dianaerikapaz.
