EastEnders legend Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) may soon get her freedom, as Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) has been interviewed following Sonia’s arrest.
Sonia has been in prison for several weeks now, since police charged her with the murder of Reiss’ wife Debbie.
Viewers will know that it was actually Reiss who smothered Debbie with a pillow, after finding out that he was severely in debt to the care home she was living in.
However, when given the opportunity to confess, Reiss didn’t take it, and instead let Sonia take the wrap for his crime.
Ever since then, he has been determined to clear her name – not an easy feat, given that he is also trying to keep himself out of the frame.
So far, his efforts have included handing out flyers, putting up posters and attempting to gather signatures for a petition, in the hopes of spreading the word about this miscarriage of justice.
However, his aims for publicity haven’t necessarily attracted the crowd he was hoping for.
While the likes of Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) gave their best wishes and prayers for Sonia, the likes of Mo Harris (Laila Morse) made it clear that they thought Sonia really was a murderer.
Mo was so unwavering in her belief that she contacted the Walford Gazette, who wasted no time in interviewing Reiss about why he was backing the woman charged with murdering his wife.
Reiss was quick on his feet to make an excuse as to why Sonia was innocent, telling the reporter that the police were ‘being lazy and jumping to conclusions’, and that the idea of a fiancé killing their partner’s ex was nothing more than headline fodder.

It didn’t take him long to notice Mo lingering on her doorstep, and he soon made it clear that he knew it was her who had called in the press.
Mo soon fought back, insisting that it was a human interest story and that people needed to be aware of Sonia’s actions.
With the Square slowly turning against Sonia, will Reiss ever come clean, or will he continue to tarnish her reputation by keeping quiet?
