Jadon Sancho is pushing for his first starting appearance for Chelsea when they take on West Ham United this weekend.

Having made his return to London on loan from Manchester United, Sancho came off the bench and provided the assist for Christopher Nkunku’s late winner at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Sancho caused plenty of problems down the left after coming onto replace Pedro Neto in the second-half at the Vitality Stadium and will hope that performance will merit a place in the starting XI in east London.

Chelsea are expected to welcome a number of players back to the side with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia all returning to full training.

Gusto suffered a thigh injury in the draw with Crystal Palace prior to the international break with Axel Disasi slotting in at right-back against Bournemouth.

The Frenchman’s return will be much welcomed particularly following the news that Reece James is still not ready to return to the side.

The Chelsea captain has not featured this season due to a hamstring injury and a suspension carried over from last season.

While the problem is not thought to be a fresh setback, James’ ongoing hamstring issue is taking more time to heal than first thought.

Fernandez and Dewsbury-Hall meanwhile missed out at the weekend due to illness.
