Looking for a unique new office space or workshop? Or perhaps you want a store room with a story to it?

Well, this former bomb shelter might be the perfect option.

The WWII shelter was built to combat the threat of Nazi bombs, located in Downderry, near Torpoint, Cornwall, which was a target for the Luftwaffe during the war.

Given its location, the property comes with amazing sea views, and at a guide price of £25,000 could be a bargain fixer-upper for the right person.

As ever though, there is a catch: because it measures 13m by 3m – or 43ft by 10ft – it’s not suitable for residential living, being marketed instead as aworkshop, store room, or development opportunity.

While the shelter itself is rustic to say the least, it has the potential to be turned into something more aesthetic and even liveable, as other bomb shelters in the past have been transformed into stunning homes.

As well as the stunning costal location, it also comes with a parking space on a long lease.

A spokesman for auctioneers Clive Emson said: ‘This is a rare and interesting opportunity to acquire a former bomb shelter and nearby parking space located within the popular coastal village of Downderry.

‘The site has sea views and the area enjoys views to Rame Head and Looe Island as well as ready access to the various clifftops, beaches and footpaths that grace this renowned part of the south eastern Cornish coastline.

‘The property will most likely appeal to those on the lookout for a good sized workshop/store room or those with an eye for further development, subject to all the necessary consents.’

If you’ve got the funds and the vision (plus all the permissions) you could end up with something like this – a 1941 war bunker turned holiday home.

The renovation added a kitchen and utility room, a living space, a main bedroom, a second bunk room, and a bathroom.

Feeling inspired to make your Grand Designs vision come to life here?

Bidding on the Downderry shelter via Clive Emson starts on Monday September 16 and lasts until Wednesday September 18, with a guide price of £25,000 – just remember to factor in the cost of works needed before getting too carried away.
