The Aidensfield post office from TV’s Heartbeat is now up for sale.

The property was a regular fixture of the seventh and eighth series of the hit ITV drama – which followed the police, medical staff and local residents of Aidensfield – and it can be yours for £290,000.

Much like in the TV show, the post office actually is a post office and a gift shop, and the word ‘Aidensfield’ remains on the front. The semi-detached property also has four bedrooms and two bedrooms.

As fans might recall, Sergeant Oscar Blaketon (Derek Fowlds) – who appeared in every series of the procedural drama – took over the post office during the seventh season after he suffered a nearly fatal heart-attack.

The heart-attack in question forced him to retire from active duty, which led to him changing careers.

This didn’t last very long though, as it’s believed that writers struggled to find ways to the mainstay to the plot lines, and therefore he was made owner of Aidensfield Arms instead.

A staple of ITV programming for almost two decades, Heartbeat aired between 1992 and 2010, amassing 18 series along the way.

The long-running period drama featured many household names including EastEnders star Nick Berry, who rose to fame as Wicksy on the BBC One soap in the 80s. Coronation Street and Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson also starred in the later series’.

Heartbeat came to an end in September 2010 after ITV axed the show, a decision which was met with criticism from fans.

The series has lived on through repeats, with classic episodes currently airing daily on ITV3.
