Noel Gallagher will be added to the National Portrait Gallery despite being a ‘grumpy middle-aged man’ and hating having his picture taken.

Oasis-mania is in full swing as fans eagerly await more tickets being released for their extra tour dates, after the general sale sparked outrage.

While fans fight tooth and nail to get the gold dust Oasis Live ’25 tickets, the Gallaghers seem to be having a great time back in the spotlight.

Already pushing himself out of his comfort zone by reuniting with his brother Liam, Noel went one step further and posed for pictures – confessing it’s one part of fame that he does not enjoy.

While the Oasis icon prepares for next year’s reunion tour, he is being recognised with a portrait in the historic gallery but joked he is not totally pleased about it.

The 57-year-old musician, who could make £200million should he sell his back catalogue, said he was ‘thrilled and honoured’.

He then added that this was surprising as he is a ‘grumpy middle-aged man who hates having his picture taken’.

A black and white portrait, taken by photographer Zoe Law, will be displayed for the first time on Friday, November 29.

The exhibition is due to end in March but Noel’s picture is set to be added as a permanent addition to the collection.

Three other Oasis photographs are included in the gallery’s extensive collection but this is the first time one of the brothers has sat solo for a portrait.

Noel said it was ‘very special’ to know the portrait is ‘being permanently displayed for future generations to marvel at.’

Sabina Jaskot-Gill, senior curator of photographs at the gallery, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have recently acquired Zoe Law’s portrait of Noel Gallagher for the National Portrait Gallery’s photographs collection.

‘I am really looking forward to seeing more of her Legends exhibited across our studio gallery and spotlight space in what promises to be an exciting and innovative display.’

Zoe added that it was the ‘greatest honour’ to have photographed Noel for the collection.

Other new portraits going on display include Sir Bobby Charlton, Orlando Bloom and a never-before-seen picture of Kim Cattrall.
